In 1964, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore was added to the NPS. This park was created in part from lands previously under the jurisdiction of the USFS, as well as privately owned lands which were purchased by the federal government. This park is actually a narrow strip of land which follows 40 miles of the Lake Superior shoreline. ................
