After graduating from high school in Fairmont, Bob joined the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Twenty Nine Palms, California, with the 1st Light Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion. He was deployed to Vietnam as a radio operator with 1st LAAMS in March of 1965, where he was stationed at the DaNang Air Base and an outpost on Hill #327. ................
