But most importantly, this is a time for children to find amusement in books and to learn to love reading. Reading with them helps develop their listening skills, lengthen their attention spans, and expand their imaginations. Attached you will find the requirements for completing the First Grade summer reading program. Each student is required to read at least three books from the list of authors provided below and complete the reading log. Choose TWO of these books to complete the given assignments: Character Chat and Summer Story Map. The students will complete the assignments on the printable worksheets included in this packet. Grading will take place when your child returns his/her project to school on the first day of school. The enclosed rubric will be used for grading the assignments.
