4053840-127127000IQC Video Submission Instructions (Deadline is July 27, 2018)Length of presentation: 2.5 minutesTopics may be selected from one of three Appraisal institute courses identified on this page. Your selected topic may be presented from a general or residential perspective, although participants should seek to be balanced in their presentation because students in our AI courses vary in their interests. IQC participants may present any topic or subtopic within the three identified courses. NOTE: Your topic choice will be used for both the video and the live presentation at the conference.A.Selecting your topicChoose a topic that you feel comfortable presenting. Select your topic from one of the three courses identified below. 1.Basic Appraisal Principles2.Basic Appraisal Procedures3.General Appraiser Income Approach, Part 1The topic of your presentation should be a concept or appraisal principle in the course handbook. Your topic can be narrowed to a subtopic. Just be sure that your selected topic allows you to demonstrate your teaching skills.Choose your topic carefully. Think of it in a similar manner to choosing a subject property for a demonstration report that will be graded.B.Presenting your topic in the video and the live presentationAssume you will start your presentation as you would in a classroom setting. There is no need to introduce yourself or the course. Instead begin with something like this:“We’re now ready to discuss our next concept on page 265 of your handbook. This appraisal principle builds on what I presented earlier in the day…”The above is just a suggestion. You have the freedom to decide how you want to begin your presentation. Don’t try to cover too much material in your 2.5-minute time allotment. Remember to present the content so your class members understand it. Be a good explainer.Practice advancing slides in your PowerPoint presentation. Instructors are expected to be proficient in how PowerPoint functions in slideshow mode.C.Researching your topicUse the instructor notes in the course handbook to acquaint you with the basics, but also avail yourself to Appraisal Institute resources and publications that can further assist you in understanding the concepts you are presenting. The facilitators will observe whether you present appraisal concepts correctly and that your explanations are consistent with the course handbook and AI’s Body of Knowledge. This is not the place to experiment with new or controversial ideas. The instructor version of the course handbook and other instructor materials such as the PowerPoint files are available for download on the Knowledge Center. You must sign in with your AI username and password. Under ‘My Programs’ you will see the program listing for ‘Instructor Qualifying Conference (IQC).’D.Critical essentials for your IQC videoParticipants must view "Preparing Your IQC Video” before starting work on your video.
