Directions for Your Biography Book Report

Please see me for book approval by Friday, 4/10/15. The final copy of this report is due on 5/7/15. Oral presentations will begin on 5/7 and will continue until completed (All students must be prepared to present on 5/7).

Written Section

1. Your first paragraph must include the title and author of the book, genre, who you are writing about, the years that the person lived, and the main reason for which they are famous.

2. The next section must be about at least five other important accomplishments in their life (may be 1-4 paragraphs). Give specific details about the accomplishments. What was the person like? Describe their personality. How did this person’s personality affect their accomplishments? This may be done in 1 or more paragraphs.

3. In another complete paragraph, give your opinion of the book and tell whether or not you would recommend the book to a friend. Explain what your favorite part of the book was. It will help your grade if you use specific examples, reasons, and details from the book to explain why the book made you feel the way you did.

4. For the final written section of this report, you must write a conclusion to your report. It must include the title and author of the book, a restating of the person’s most famous accomplishment, how you think the person has affected the world, and what you think the world would be like if the person hadn’t lived.

5. Make a cover for your book report. It should have the title (underlined and spelled correctly), the author, illustrator, your name/file number/class, and the date. You should also create/draw a picture of an important or exciting event from the story (it may be a drawing, collage, clipart, or any other appropriate illustration).

This report must be typed, double-spaced, with no font-size smaller than 10pt and none bigger than 12pt. (Please see me if you are unable to type this report for any reason)

Oral Section

Oral presentations will begin on May 7th and will continue until completed.

1. You will be speaking as the character.

2. You must wear something that portrays the character (feel free to be creative). Also, bring in an object that reminds you of the character (it may be made at home).

3. You will start your presentation by introducing yourself as the character. (Example: “Good morning, I’m Benjamin Franklin…”)

4. You must tell us the years of your character’s life.

5. You must tell us 2 interesting facts/accomplishments from your character’s life.

6. You must tell us what their personality was like.

7. You must tell us how their life affected the world.

8. You will end your presentation by telling us your real name.

You may use notes/cards to remind of your presentation, but you should maintain good eye contact with the class. You should use your best speaking voice. Practice your presentation at home in front of a mirror and your family.
