She was born in 1874 in Waterloo, Iowa.
She studied geology at Stanford University in California. While in college she met Hebert Hoover another geology student and married in 1899. They had two sons-Herbert, Jr. and Allen Henry.
In 1929, Herbert Hoover became the President of the United States and Lou Henry was the First Lady and also the Horary President of GSUSA.
Juliette Low introduced Lou Henry to the Girl Scout movement.
She worked closely with Girl Scouts of the USA and served as its president.
She is the only person to serve as the President and the Honorary President of GSUSA.
She was a Leader of Troop 8 in Washington DC.
