Volunteers:

The Calgary Fiddlers Association relies upon volunteers to work with staff in order to run many of our activities and projects. We extend our appreciation to our many volunteers, including the Board of Directors, for their on-going support.

In addition to the basic fiddling and performance training, the Association obtains grants and casino funding to provide enhanced training and performance opportunities.

During 2016-2017 year, the Association sponsored the following:

Workshops

In addition to regularly scheduled association hosted workshops, both the Bow Valley Fiddlers and the Calgary Fiddlers had the opportunity to take part in offsite workshops.

The Calgary Fiddlers Association held their Wild Rosin Fiddle Camp Retreat weekend in October, 2016 and February, 2017 for the Bow Valley Fiddlers and Calgary Fiddlers. It was held at Camp Chestermere. This retreat offered intensive fiddle workshops, fun choreographies opportunities, team-building events, campfire and camp songs, movie night, Karaoke and crafts. The Calgary Fiddlers were camp counsellors/mentors for the two camps further developing their leadership skills and developing friendships with the younger fiddlers in the organization.

The Calgary Fiddlers had a very unique opportunity to welcome the Coastline Fiddlers from Victoria. During the visit, the fiddlers performed with their Victoria friends in Calgary at the CORE, the CFA Barn Dance and in Banff.

In June, Revolution Strings stopped in Calgary to perform with the Calgary Fiddlers at Spruce Meadows. The CFA also hosted a potluck for the group one evening before they continued on their tour.
