Friday will be the 78th meeting between the two schools, making OHS the most common opponent in Purples Football history. While the Purples trail the series with the Red Devils, they have won 26 of the last 31 meetings, including victories in the last eleven games. The 11-game win streak over OHS is the longest streak BGHS has ever had over the Red Devils. The last Owensboro win came in the 2008 playoffs, 28-21, at Donaldson Stadium. From 1956-71, Owensboro went 15-0-1 against the Purples. BGHS is 15-6 vs. OHS at Donaldson Stadium, including a win-streak of six games. With a win, BGHS will get to a .500 record vs. the Red Devils for the first time since 1945...BGHS “home venue” records vs. Owensboro: 11th Street- 4-3, Old Western Stadium- 2-9-1. Donaldson Stadium- 15-6 St. X 30 BGHS 10- BGHS lost its second consecutive game with a 30-19 loss to St. Xavier. The Purples were outgained 396-227 and lost three fumbles in the contest. The win marked the first time that the Tigers have won a game in Donaldson Stadium. BGHS had not lost two games in a row in the same season since 2002. SR WR Ziyon Kenner had 251 all-purpose yards. Kenner had 103 yards receiving, 94 yards in punt returns, 53 yards in kickoff returns, and one yard rushing. Kenner scored on a special teams play for the second consecutive week as his 76-yard punt return went for a TD against the Tigers. SO RB Vito Tisdale had 79 yards on 10 carries and scored two touchdowns. SR OLB Devan Jackson had another outstanding game with 10 tackles, 5 assists, 2 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and a pass break up. JR OLB Miles Smith added 9 tackles, 4 assists, and a tackle for loss. BGHS Football- BGHS Football began play in 1922. Since that time, the Purples have amassed a record of 684-333-35, which places them eighth in all-time wins in Kentucky.. The Purples are tied for 9th in state championships (6), are among only 12 schools in state history that have won three consecutive championships, and their 48-game win streak (2011-14) is the second longest in state history. Since 2011, BGHS is 85-5 (.944). In the 26 seasons since 1990, BGHS and Highlands are the only two Kentucky schools to win more than 85% of their games. FR BGHS (2-0) 28 South Warren 0 FR will travel to Henderson Co. on Thursday. Coach Wallace: Kevin Wallace now in 12th spot on the career KHSAA football wins list. Currently, only nine coaches have secured 300 career KHSAA wins. Tom Larkey (Perry Co. Central) and Wallace have a chance to join that group by season’s end. The loss at PRP was the 100th defeat of Wallace’s career. Wallace is now 290-101 (.742) in his career, including a 245-40 (.86o) mark at BGHS. Wallace is tied for 10th in KHSAA state championship appearances (8) and and tied for 7th in state championships won (5). Wallace is the only coach in state history that have been a part of three separate winning streaks of over 25 games. KHSAA Coaching Wins LeadersRankings: MaxPreps ranks BGHS 2nd in Class 5A and 14th overall in Kentucky. Owensboro is ranked 31st in KY and 7th in Class 5A by MaxPreps.
