KennerBGHS vs. Warren Central- The Purples and Dragon have met every year since 1974. A win on Friday would give BGHS their longest win streak (9) over WCHS in the series history. The Purples had an 8-game win streak from 1994-2000 and are in the midst of a similar streak that has run since 2011... The initial eight games of the series were played at BGHS. The Purples are 22-6 (.786) against the Dragons at Donaldson Stadium. The last win for WCHS in Donaldson Stadium came in 2009...BGHS is 23-4 (.852) in their last 27 games against Warren Central... Last year, BGHS 60-0, Ten years ago (2007), BGHS 62-6 and 62-0, 20 years ago (1997), BGHS 21-7, 30 years ago (1987), BGHS 21-12, and 40 years ago (1977), BGHS 35-6….During his tenure as head coach at BGHS, Kevin Wallace is 21-4 (.840) vs. Warren Central...Warren Central’s first win in the series came in 1978 when Rusty Dyer scored all 17 points for the Dragons in a 17-14 win. The head coach of the Dragons in that game was the Purples most accomplished football alum, Dale Lindsey...WCHS head coach, Joel Taylor, sent several years as the BGJHS head coach and coached most of the players on the current Purple team. BGHS vs. Warren County Schools- BGHS is 94-13 (.879) against the schools in Warren County. South Warren and BGHS are now district opponents and will meet for the first time in October. The Purples and Warren East spent many years in the same district. BGHS is 32-1 (,970) against the Raiders, with the only WEHS win coming in 1985 with Kevin Wallace as the Raiders head coach. The two schools have not met since 2010. BGHS is 25-0 against Greenwood. The two schools started playing in 1991 and have met in every season except 2009 and 2010….During his time at BGHS, Kevin Wallace is 56-4 (.933) against Warren County schools. BGHS 48 Owensboro 21- For the first time since 1945, BGHS has even the slate against Owensboro. The Purples secured their 12th consecutive win against the Red Devils with a 48-21 victory on Friday. That win ties the all-time BGHS-OHS series at 38-38-2. The Purples have not been at a .500 record since the end of World War II. JR QB Beau Buchannan was 18-29-0, 193 yards, one touchdown passing and one scoring run. SO CB-RB Vito Tisdale scored on an 80-yard kickoff return, a 9-yard run, and set up another score with a 51-yard return of an interception. SO K Dalton Major scored a career-high 12 points in the game. Major was perfect on six extra points and two field goals. SR WR Ziyon Kenner continued his great start to the ‘17 season, leading Purple receivers with 9 catches for 95 yards and one touchdown. Kenner also rushed for one score. The Purples defense forced six turnovers as Trey Jones, Miles Smith, Evan Spader, and Terrion Thompson had fumble recoveries and Jaden Harris joined Tisdale with an interception. SR LB Justice Dingle led BGHS tackles with 8 tackles, 2 assists, and a forced fumble. JR DE William Gray had a career-best 5 tackles and 5 assists in the contest.BGHS Football- BGHS Football began play in 1922. Since that time, the Purples have amassed a record of 685-333-35, which places them eighth in all-time wins in Kentucky.. The Purples are tied for 9th in state championships (6), are among only 12 schools in state history that have won three consecutive championships, and their 48-game win streak (2011-14) is the second longest in state history. Since 2011, BGHS is 86-5 (.945). In the 26 seasons since 1990, BGHS and Highlands are the only two Kentucky schools to win more than 85% of their games. The Purples are 310-51 (.858) during that period. KHSAA Team RecordsJV/Freshman Football- JV - Owensboro canceled this week’s JV game. FR BGHS (3-0) 14 Henderson Co. 0 FR are scheduled to host South Warren on Thursday Coach Wallace: Kevin Wallace now in 12th spot on the career KHSAA football wins list. Currently, only nine coaches have secured 300 career KHSAA wins. Tom Larkey (Perry Co. Central) and Wallace have a chance to join that group by season’s end. The loss at PRP was the 100th defeat of Wallace’s career. Wallace is now 291-101 (.742) in his career, including a 246-40 (.861) mark at BGHS. Wallace is tied for 10th in KHSAA state championship appearances (8) and and tied for 7th in state championships won (5). Wallace is the only coach in state history that have been a part of three separate winning streaks of over 25 games .
