Research emphasizes the need to act early and quickly. A Colby College study found that any non-attendance in the first two weeks of class predicts academic difficulties. What strategies can faculty implement to promote student success and retention? What should happen within the first few weeks of class to decrease the likelihood of withdrawals and failures? In this brief session we will explore several simple techniques that you can implement now, without completely redesigning your course, to encourage attendance, engagement, and persistence.Using Classroom Technology including SolsticeLearn how to operate technology common to most classroom spaces, including connectivity, projection, and audio. Tips and basic troubleshooting strategies will be covered, as well as how to submit tickets for equipment requests and events. Also learn how you can use Solstice to collaborate more effectively with students and peers, without requiring a/v cables or adapters. Effective summer 2018, Solstice has replaced AirMedia as the default wireless presentation device in classrooms and meeting spaces.
