Homecoming news

Interview with Mr. Nealby Kellie McKeeCan you tell us a little about yourself? I was born in Caldwell Kansas; I graduated high school from there, and I currently live there on the weekends with my wife Debbie. I went to North Western, graduated there with a bachelors and master’s degree. I went back for additional hours for administrative work. My wife is a second grade teacher in Blackwell. We have three children and six grandchildren, three of which go to Kremlin. We lived in Pond Creek until about 2013, and then moved back to Kansas. I retired from here, I’m not sure what year, but I’m very fortunate to have been able to come back. I was assistant principal in Kansas, and Ponca City. I was the junior high and high school in Pond Creek and Wakita. Any news worthy information going on at the school? We always try to upgrade things for both the students and staff whenever we can. We got a new phone system this summer, and many teachers attend workshops to better themselves for themselves and for the students. The staff are very hard workers, and set really good, high standards which the students always meet. The new classes this year, forensics, and newspaper, I’m proud of how they’re doing, and how interactive the classes are. I’m very excited about softball and band, and I’m proud of how all the teams have played. Is there anything you would like to say to the student body? I’m proud of everyone. This school really is a cut above all the others I’ve taught at. Like I said the teachers hold high standards the students don’t fail to meet. Whenever we go places, the students are always well behaved, they always listen.Do you have any additional comments? I just want everyone to feel like a Bronc as soon as they walk through that door. I want them to feel good, feel like they can do anything. I want this school to come out on the top and keep coming out on top.Thank you to Mr. Neal for answering the questions the Newspaper had. But there are some food out there that classify as both a fruit and a vegetable. For example, eggplant, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, all considered veggies right? But anything that the seed grows on the inside of the plant is a fruit. So all those veggies I just listed, are they fruits or vegetables? What do you classify them as? Student Spotlight with: Katy Ormstonby Josephine LarsenKaty Ormston is a senior at Kremlin Hillsdale and she is also a first year cosmetology student at our local CareerTech, Autry Technology Center. I decided to ask her a few questions about her future and her year so far.Who’s your favorite teacher this year? “Mr. Voth, Peter as always.”Her favorite class this year is getting to be the teacher’s aide for Mrs. Meyer and Mrs. Riddle. After high school, Katy plans to get her cosmetology license and train under an esthetician.Something she enjoys about being a senior is having more freedom and fewer classes.I asked her for a secret and she stated “I still watch My Little Pony (no shame)”This is the last year at Kremlin for 16 of our students. Our seniors have a stressful year of applications and all the stress that comes along with that.Kremlin Softball SeasonThe following is a list of awards and statistics for the High School softball team this year. We are all looking forward to seeing the team continue to make progress next year!Bullyingby Kellie McKee We here at the Newspaper wanted to send out a friendly reminder to be nice and support each other. Bullying happens too often, and we want everyone to feel welcomed and excited to go to school. Kremlin is and always will be known for many things, but one thing we want to continue to be known for at the school is kindness. Be nice to your peers and faculty members. If you have a bully, let your teacher know that you’ve been receiving hurtful comments, or you have been pushed around. If they don’t do anything about come find me and I’ll be your knight in shining armor ;). Band Carnivalby Josephine LarsenThe yearly band carnival was another success for our school band! Every fall the band puts on a carnival to help fund our Pride of KHS and the trip to Disney World that happens every 4 years. Small groups of students get to work together and make a booth for people to have fun. Our carnival had everything from face painting to funnel cakes and corn hole. This event is always a great fundraiser for our band and a fun night for our community. Thank you to all the families that came to support us for another year. Weather Whirby Josephine LarsenThe weather is changing, and fast. Cold fronts are coming in accompanied by rain, forcing us all to pull out our sweaters. I have a few tips for the changing weather to make the transition a bit smoother. Tip #1, this may be common sense to some but many don’t know, only use your car’s cruise control on flat and dry ground never during rain, snow, or sleet. Another tip is to meal prep your favorite comfort foods. If you make a large batch of food at the beginning of the week then youwon’t have to worry about cooking for a few days. My last tip is get you winter clothing early. You never know when a huge cold front will come in, making you regret not stocking up early. In conclusion stay warm and stay safe. Cross Country newsby Donny Bell Well boys we made it, we made State!! The Kremlin Cross Country team ran a great race at Regionals at OBA and earned their spot in the State meet. The meet was on Saturday, October 26th 2019. The race began at 1:15 p.m., and was held in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the OBU school campus. The team had already raced at OBU earlier this season so they know the course and how to run it. There was a final top seven runners that competed for us at the State meet this year and the top seven runners were: Harris Keithly; John Rose; Elijah Espinoza; Everett Bonine; David Grandberg; David Hoover; and Joseph Alcuitas. They have had another great season and the team appreciates all the support from the school and the parents this season.
