Primary purpose of the roleThe Project Engineer will develop, implement and utilise systems, standards and procedures to manage the service and operation of Transport for NSW’s Regional Truck Plant Fleet and maintenance facilities in consultation with the Project Manager, Plant and Truck.The role will also undertake technical investigations into incidents across all these assets, overseeing defect review and rectification, support development of technical work programs including assurance and assess various technical changes from stakeholders, including the contractor in a commercial environment where budget constraints exist. The ability to apply this knowledge and provide advice in the construction and maintenance of heavy vehicles. Proven experience in the maintenance of complex technical systems and equipment, such as heavy automotive, rail, aircraft, marine or defense. Performance management and continuous improvement experience would be a significant advantage.Previous experience in a role with significant commercial supplier interaction, a high degree of autonomy.Essential requirementsA four-year Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent discipline) from an Australian university or an equivalent overseas qualification acceptable for professional recognition within Australia.Possess a valid Australian motor vehicle driver’s licence and be willing to work outside regular working hours and occasional travel for work.The role requires security and criminal clearance prior to appointment.Capabilities for the roleThe NSW public sector capability framework describes the capabilities (knowledge, skills and abilities) needed to perform a role.
