I hope everyone got the change the date for our December short meeting/Christmas dinner. The date has been moved to December 18 (still in Guyot Hall). We will have a short meeting at 6:30PM and festivities should start around 7:00PM. We have about 50 RSVPs so the night should be fun! Azalea Creek will again be catering and your $13.50/person is due that night before you leave. If you want to participate in the Secret Santa, please bring a wrapped gift costing no more than about $20. If your spouse wants to participate (hope so!) have him bring a gift for a male. We will separate the male/female gifts near the stage. Also, this year, those of us that can, have been asked to bring one unwrapped gift for a teenager. There are currently 10 teenagers in house at The Bridge Over Troubled Waters (Pasadena) and 30 in additional housing. There will be a designated spot near the stage for these gifts. Gina will drop off our donations on December 19 and let The Bridge decide how to distribute. My contact at The Bridge told me they always get a lot of donations for the littles, but the teenagers often get overlooked. Thank you to our members who are helping with this. St Vincent DePaul has a constant need this time of year for donations of food which they will distribute on December 12. Pamella Pitman has printed 200 Brunch tickets. Thank you, Pamella! I will have a spreadsheet at our December 18 meeting to try to keep track of checked out packets. We need to get started on our February 1 Brunch! We will sell Brunch tickets at church only 2 Sundays beforehand January 19 and January 26 (after all masses). I will be signing up volunteers for this as tickets are checked out! You can run but you can’t hide!WELCOME to our new member Peg Adams! Immediately upon joining, her adult daughter, Suzanne, had to have emergency surgery and was in need of our prayers! She has greatly appreciated having our support. Please continue to keep, Nora Cortez and Pat Drieling in your prayers. Nora is recovering from surgery and Pat continues to rebuild her strength from her recent hospital stay. Please reach out to Susan O’Keefe if you are made aware of anyone else needing our special intentions. And finally, I hope each of you have a very blessed Christmas with your loved ones and are looking forward to new beginning in 2020! Truly, Jesus is the reason for the season….all seasons, really. And, though we celebrate the gift of HIS birth but once each year……….HIS gift reaches into eternity. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Catholic Daughters of the Americas strives to embrace the principle of faith working through love in the promotion of justice, equality and the advancement of human rights and human dignity for all.-381000-21653500NATIONAL COURT NEWS ()Christmas 2019My dear friends, Christmas! Christmastime again! We love this celebration and get ready for it enthusiastically, hoping everything will be perfect. Our preparations take many forms, spiritual and more interior, material and more external. Too often perhaps, the external preparations can take away from preparing hearts as Advent invites us to do. Without always realizing it, getting gifts and meals ready, inviting and visiting our loved ones, decorating our homes and even our churches can take on more importance than Advent. But it is the spiritual and religious journey Advent offers which lets the birth of Jesus open our hearts to the grace of Christmas and fill every dimension of our lives with unique joy. Jesus is our hope for peace on earth, for peace of heart. May Christ be newborn in our world and in your heart this Christmas and throughout the New Year. As our gift to you, the National Board is having five masses celebrated for you and your families, beginning December 24 to the 28 at St. Mark’s Church in Tampa, Florida. May God fill your life with love, joy and peace this Holiday Season. Father Edleft26670000STATECOURT NEWS ()The Texas State Board wishes you and yours a very Merry Christmas.
