The coronavirus has been wreaking havoc with high school football schedules. COVID-19 issues kayoed Fair Lawn’s Super Football Conference (SFC) Ivy Division White game with the MAROON RAIDERS of Dwight Morrow High of Englewood and the crossover game against the Ivy Division Red KNIGHTS of Bergen Tech. In Ivy Division games that were played, Fair Lawn’s Ivy Division White went 3-0 (1.000) over Ivy Division Red teams as the RIDGERS of Glen Ridge beat the RAMS of Dickinson 20-7, the MAROON RAIDERS of Dwight Morrow mauled the TIGERS of Memorial of West New York 48-3 and the TIGERS of Tenafly beat the RED RAIDERS of Cliffside Park 21-7. The entire Ivy Division is 1-1 (.500) against outside opposition so far.

The SFC has released “Post Season” schedules and we’ll see how many of the games get played and how many get lost to Covid-19 issues. Our CUTTERS are scheduled to play two teams they have never lost to in “Away” games November 13th and 21st in the TIGERS of Memorial High of West New York and the RAMS of Dickinson High of Jersey City.

This Friday at 7 our CUTTERS travel to Joseph N. Coviello Field in West New York to play the TIGERS of Memorial High School for the fifth time. During 2016-19 our CUTTERS have gone 4-0 (1.000) over the TIGERS. In 2017 our CUTTERS won a 21-20 thriller as the game ended.

Memorial comes into the game 3-1 (.750) having been outscored 93-90 for an average 23-23 tie. Fair Lawn comes into the game 2-2 (.500) having outscored the opposition 84-83 for an average 21-21 tie. With QB Ali Ljapo and runners Jalen Corporan and Tommy Kabiawu picking up yardage behind center Matt Murri, guards Will Feliz and Sebastian Rodriquez and tackles Alexander Aponte and Zachary Shapiro, Fair Lawn’s offense has been formidable. With Murri snapping, Ljapo holding and the sure-footed Julian Keylin kicking, extra points have become virtually automatic. Keylin’s kicks and Kabiawu’s punts have been boomers!

Guys like Alexander and Nikolas Aponte, Richard Arcos, Guy J. Ben Sadigh, Aidan and Joe Fojon, Jake Christianson, Alex Frangione, Kabiawu, Kai Hurzeler-Walsh, Christian Kelly, Keylin, Ljapo, Rodriguez, Zachary Shapiro, Joseph Tietjen, Zhaire Trinidad, Tyler Umstead, Devon Valley and others have made the Fair Lawn defense a force to be reconned with too!

This game between the Ivy Division White CUTTERS and the Ivy Division Red TIGERS figures to be a battle royal. From here it looks like Fair Lawn 21 – Memorial 20. GO CUTTERS GO!!!
