Rags to Riches E-commerce and Market Coordinator Post

9th March 2020 to 31st March 2021 (likely to be extended till 2022)

£8,180 (pro rata £20,450 per annum) plus 3% pension

15 hours per week (2 days based on a 37.5hour working week (incl. weekend hours)

A new vacancy has arisen at Govanhill Baths Community Trust’s flagship Rags to Riches social enterprise project for an experience market trader and creative salesperson. For the past 9 years Rags to Riches has developed and delivered a range of innovative upcycling projects from workshops, training projects, high profile events to manufacturing and selling high quality products. It is now considered the leading upcycling project in Scotland

We are now looking for an enthusiastic self starter to focus on selling our unique range of upcycled products through a variety of outlets.

Job Role

The E-commerce and Market Coordinator will play a key role in expanding the R2R brand with particular focus on increasing R2R upcycled product sales, particularly at markets, through our online store and with stockists. You will deploy a variety of skills from sales to overseeing product design development to actively seeking suitable waste supply chain. You will work independently as well as supervising a range of people from volunteers to manufacturing staff. You will be the public face of Rags to Riches and one of the points of contact for the organisation.

Key responsibilities and tasks

• Manage online retail store, orders, sales and inventory

• Sell our products on a weekly basis at markets

• Liaise with manufacturing staff and oversee production orders

• Liaise with designer staff to develop new R2R product lines

• Identify and secure waste supply chains for product manufacturing

• Identify suitable markets, fairs and events in and around Glasgow

• Identify new wholesale opportunities and liaise with independent shops and retail businesses in Scotland and outwith

• Cash handling

• Deliver an annual fair for the organisation

• Identify, recruit and support market stall volunteers

• Prepare product analysis report –sales figures, customer feedback for R2R staff ie product designer and manufacturing staff and GBCT Board and manager

• Write content for social media, GBCT newsletter and other promotional platform opportunities

• Represent Rags to Riches and GBCT to our customers and clients

• Comply with all risk assessments, health and safety, equal opportunities and other company policies and procedures

Essential Requirements

• Extensive experience of online selling and using ecommerce platforms

• Ability to work flexible working hours with regular weekend work

• Highly developed IT skills and experience of applications with spreadsheet software proficiency

• Extensive retail experience / independent retail / costumers service roles

• Proactive with a ‘Can Do’ attitude

• An excellent understanding of the upcyling sector. Green and zero energy products

• Be enthusiastic, confident, friendly individual with excellent people skills

• Self-motivated and able to meet agreed objectives on own initiative and work to meet deadlines

• Ability to prioritise work, resourceful with attention to detail Good networker – able to identify useful contacts and develop/maintain solid networks with a range of stakeholders

• Driving licence essential. Confident to drive transit. Willing to travel throughout greater Glasgow with possible Scotland wide locations

• Happy working outside and able to carry out light to moderate lifting

Desirable Experience

• Experience of working in a social enterprise context

• Experience in online marketing

• An interest in circular economy practices
