The Brooklyn City Council met in regular session on Monday, December 16, 2019 in the Municipal Building at 138 Jackson Street with Mayor Solem opening the meeting at 6:00 P.M. with Councilmen Les Taylor, Carl Tubbs, Chris Keller, Leah Keller and Rusty Clayton. Others present Tammy Kriegel-City Treasurer, City Attorney Fred Steifel, Peter Steifel, Scott Hawkins, Sam DeGeorge and Barb Schwiebert.

AGENDA

Mayor Solem opened the Public Hearing on the matter of the adoption of proposed Amendment No.2 to the Urban Revitalization Plan for comments or questions from the public. There were no oral or written comments received. Motion by C. Keller, 2nd by Taylor to close the hearing at 6:01 P.M. All Ayes, Motion carried.

RESOLUTION NO. 2019-38: RESOLUTION ADOPTING AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE BROOKLYN URBAN REVITALIZATION PLAN FOR THE BROOKLYN URBAN REVITALIZATION AREA. Motion by Taylor, 2nd by Tubbs to approve this resolution. All Ayes, Motion carried.

Motion by Clayton, 2nd by Tubbs to approve the Regular Council meeting minutes from December 2, 2019. All Ayes, Motion carried.

Council reviewed Library Board Minutes from December 2, 2019.

Poweshiek County Engineer Lyle Brehm did not attend the meeting. Sheri will try to get Lyle and a representative from Manatt’s to attend the next meeting.

PUBLIC WORKS

Barb Schwiebert discussed with Council about her driveway. She will be back in the spring to address this issue more. She also would like a noise ordinance due to a neighbor’s generator. Council asked for this issue to be put on the next agenda with some example ordinances from other cities similar to our size.

BUILDING, PLANNING & ZONING

Council reviewed building permits.
