Guide children in creating 3-5 positively stated rules that encompass their ideas- for example: I keep my body safe. I use gentle hands with other people. I put toys away carefully. Sing “Rules of the class” Rap.Dramatic Play- we will invite the children to create art in the art area to decorate the dramatic play area. Then the children will choose where to hang their art in the dramatic play area. (provide a special place in your home for your child to hang their artwork)Science-The children will use play dough to create their facial features. They will also make expressive faces and talk about the unique features each one of them has.Blocks-Children will use blocks to create their own school. We will encourage them to use as many details as puter- They will play math pattern gamesLiteracy/ Library- The children will use books to identify words that begin with the letter of their namesArt- The children will draw a picture of their family members (family picture). They can also try to write the names of the people in their family.Writing- The children can use the chalk and chalk boards to practice making different faces (happy, sad, excited). Using pictures attach to parts of the body with students.Read the book “Know and How to Follow the Rules”Math-The children will use the animal counters, cereal such as fruit loops or Legos and organize in colorsSAND AND WATER/ SENSORY- Encourage the children to use their sensory bin to write their first letter of their name. For example, they can write their name in the sand. (Your child can also use shaving cream or soil)Computer- They will play math pattern gamesDramatic Play-the children will pretend to be a teacher of their own class. While playing they can be encouraged to remind students the rules of the class.Literacy/ Library- Children will use books to identify words that begin with the letter of their namesArt- From various sizes and shapes cut out from construction paper, the children will use the shapes to create their bodies. Writing- The children can use the dry erase board and practice writing their name. (your child can use paper and markers to practice writing their name)WednesdayDate:September 16Continue talking about the rules of the class and the centers we have. How can we use the rules in our centers? (if needed provide scenarios and ask class how we can use the rules to handle the situation)Read the book “Following the Rules”Dramatic play- The children will create menus for the kitchen center. They can color a picture and try to write the words.Science- The children will use mirrors to explore and discuss what they see. We will ask children how they think a mirror works.Blocks-The children will add a doll house and community helpers to the block area to act out what they do at home.Math- The children will create their own pattern by drawing their own feeling faces. For example, they can draw happy face, sad face, happy face, sad face and so on.Literacy/ Library- The children will walk around the classroom (house) identifying objects that start with the letter of their nameArt- After gluing the shapes together, the children will use writing utensils to add additional details like hair, patterns on clothes, etc. Writing- the children will open up your favorite book and try to copy words to write.ThursdayDate:September 17What is a center chart- how does it work? Walk around the classroom to show the different centers. Explain how you put your name/picture in the center you chose. What do the children want to do today?Math-Cut apart a picture of each child in 3-4 pieces, thus creating a puzzle. Then the children will try to assemble their own puzzles and their peers' puzzles as well.SAND AND WATER/ SENSORY- Encourage the children to explore play-doh and the different shapes they can create with puter- They will play math pattern gamesTable Top-Children will use small building toys to create a classroom. Have them look at books or pictures to remember what is in the classroom.Literacy/ Library-They will look at an alphabet book and listen to music to review letter’s sounds and words that begin with the letters.Writing-put some paint in a Ziplock bag and seal it. Then have the children practice writing their name on the bag. (At home you can use paint, shampoo, shaving cream)Art- When the children are finished adding details to their bodies that they created, they will attach the rules to parts of their body that are associated with the rules.FridayDate:September 18Review the flow of the day/ Class rules and center chart by going over the flow of the day visuals/ class rule song and our class center choice chart- What I want to do today?Dramatic play-Encourage the children to follow a visual play recipe using items they can find in the kitchen center. (follow a simple recipe at home to follow)Science-The children will attach the rules of the class to the parts of the body that is associated with that particular rule.Blocks- The children will use the blocks and small people to act out living in their house. Who is in your family?Math-The children will use the animal counters, cereal such as fruit loops or Legos to create patterns. They can use 2-3 colors to follow AB, ABB or ABC patterns.Literacy/ Library- The children will choose a book and identify words that start with different letters. They will write it down and draw pictures besides it.Writing- the children can use the chalk and chalk boards to practice writing words they see around in their surroundings. (They can also use paper and writing instruments such as markers or pencils)Art- the children will create a picture of their home and another picture of their school. Then they can discuss the same and different rules there are in both places.Social/ Emotional- Week to Review ................
