Hammar’s Art Studio & Cultural Center of Pelham is SBA’s New Hampshire Micro-Enterprise of the Year.Meeting Brianna, a self-proclaimed “Artrepreneur,” it is not hard to see why she is finding success in her business. Brianna (Hammar) Rolfs is a wife, mother of 4 (including triplets) and a woman who is incredibly passionate about art and so much more. Opening the business in 2016, Hammar’s Art Studio & Cultural Center, LLC is a fine art studio and culinary arts center that enables children and adults to experience both fun and fine arts. Brianna was determined to bring art and culture to the Southern New Hampshire area. When there was a vacancy in the same location as the former Hammar & Sons Art Center building where her grandfather and father once operated for over 25 years, she knew it was her time. Working in the family business throughout her high school years, Brianna directed and expanded the children’s art classes. It was during this work experience she developed a passion for helping the community to find their connection with fine art and learning to create. Hammar’s Art Studio has a long history of offering the community a welcoming location to engage in cultural arts. They offer fine art classes for children and adults, culinary classes, workshops, vacation and summer camp programs, birthday parties, and special events. Classes are led by artists, artisans, and culinary experts who are fun and encouraging. Her personal touches include her very own hand decorated pink refrigerator and a cute café equipped with everything you need to transform the space from art to cooking. In 2014, Brianna was nominated to serve as a member of the Pelham Economic Committee where she served as a member from 2014-2015 and was elected to serve as Chairman from 2016-2018. During her tenure, Brianna collaborated with fellow committee members to engage the businesses of Pelham, going "door to door" and offering solutions to involve the community. As Chairman, Brianna led a complete re-branding initiative to build a new Pelham Economic Committee website and social media platform for all of Pelham businesses to be represented.Brianna began working with SBA resource partner, SCORE Mentor Paul Mondello, for his expertise in financing, business strategy, and lease analysis. “We have implemented and are carefully executing initiatives for financing, staff expansion, partnering with organizations and educational systems to integrate and offer art into their programs as well as a solid public relations initiative.”Since beginning a retail storefront, the studio has grown immensely by using social media and sending out monthly newsletters to her 1500 or so followers and subscribers. In late 2019, Brianna launched a gift shop area within the studio offering inspiring gifts, culinary goods, and innovative art supplies. Excellent customer service is at the heart of her company, which is why her focus is on classes and a “boutique” style studio experience. When asked how she measures her success, Brianna replied with a great big smile, “My success is measured by the relationships I build and the impact I have on the community.” Hammars Art Studio has hosted fun-raisers for families, churches, and private schools by donating proceeds or 100% of the revenue. Brianna has an ongoing partnership with Community Crossroads, a family support center for people of all ages with disabilities and special needs, where she offers free or reduced rates on classes and workshops and participates in their events. While visiting Brianna in the peak of school vacation week, the SBA witnessed 23 inspired young people who were buzzing with laughter, concentrating with passion and learning how to social network in person. What a delight! If you haven’t visited, make it a destination, because Brianna is a very special, inspiring and dedicated young women with the sky being her only limit. For more information visit .
