The Ericsons moved to North Carolina from the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC about 15 years ago.In addition to his work as a schoolteacher in Wilmington, the Ericsons received income from Tina’s employment at Deltek Inc., a Wilmington-based software company and from Agora Financial, as a finder’s fee from a publishing company. Ericson is active in a local youth lacrosse league. There is little from our searches that show the Ericsons have financial issues. We found no evidence of liens or bankruptcy that name either of them as parties. The Ericsons, however, have debt. His financial disclosure shows that that have five debts with a minimum value of $10,000 through Navy Federal Credit Union, Bank of America, Capital One, CitiBank, and Chase.Of note, Ericson is divorced. He was married in Virginia in October 1996, and his first wife, Corinne, returned to France (where she was a citizen) after they separated in September 1998. He did not pursue the divorce until May 2012, after both Sean and Ingrid were born to him and Tina. According to the documents, both parties were happy to dissolve the marriage, and it is possible that his eventual marriage to Tina resulted in his conversion to Catholicism. As a candidate, Ericson established a committee in December 2019. Through February 15, 2020, he raised more than $18,000, of which more than $5,400 came from Non-profit employees and another $4,600 from people who described themselves as unemployed. He did not give any contributions to candidates or committees, besides $240 to his own bid for office. Adam and his brother took on a lot of responsibility at a young age to help their mother, who worked in a restaurant as a waitress.Adam was fortunate to attend high performing public schools in New York State. The son of a single mother who worked in restaurants, Adam and his younger brother took on a lot of responsibility at a young age. He completed a semester of language immersion study at Middlebury College. In 2019 Adam received his Master’s in Art of Teaching from UNCW. Go Seahawks!?What Adam understood then is that hard work was not enough. He needed a community and a government willing to invest in his future. How??By supporting strong, high performing public schools and honoring the work of the teachers who built them. By giving him an opportunity to pursue a college degree despite being from a working-class family.By empowering him to see a future unhindered by socioeconomic status. Today he teaches and coaches at New Hanover High School. Adam and his wife moved to Wilmington with their two young children in 2005 from Maryland. They wanted to live in a smaller community near the beach. What they found in Wilmington, was home. They fell in love with the community and the natural environment. Adam converted to Catholicism in 2014 and found that the doctrine of Catholic service became a critical guide in his life. In addition to his years of work as a teacher and a coach, Adam has volunteered for Meals on Wheels through St. Mark Catholic Church for over five years.
