Information from the By-Laws Regarding the Election Process:

Article IV. Officers and Executive Board

Section 1. Nomination and Election

From Section a: The general membership shall be notified of the names of these nominees by a posting of the names on the NYCESPA website within five days and by written notification through the NYCESPA Newsletter or direct mail prior to end of February. Nominations may also be made by written petition signed by twenty (20) active members of the Association submitted to the Executive Director no later than March 31 following.

b. If there is only one nominee for each office, the officers shall be elected at the Executive Board meeting next following March 31. In the situation where more than one candidate for any office is nominated, the contested election shall be supervised by an Election Committee, elected by the Executive Board at its meeting next following March 31. The vote shall be by secret ballot. The Executive Director shall cause the ballots to be mailed on the same day to all Active members of the Association within one week of the Executive Board meeting next following March 31. Ballots shall be returned and postmarked no later than 14 calendar days from the date of mailing.

The vacant position will be filled by the Executive Board at its first meeting of the 2020-2021 school year.
