Your child is on their way to becoming a member of one of the largest, most successful, and vibrant organizations on campus! Over the past several years our bands have won several awards in marching band competitions and superior and excellent ratings at the North Carolina Bandmaster’s Association Eastern District Music Performance Adjudication Event. In addition to the group achievement, we have placed many students in the Pitt County All-County Band, the Eastern District All-District Band, All-State Honors Band, and superior ratings at the Eastern District Solo and Ensemble MPA. Alumni students of the South Central High School Band Program are represented at several major and accredited universities in North Carolina, along with students being represented in the US Armed Forces. All past members of the program have helped establish a tradition of success and respect in all areas of the organization. With your help, it is my intention to continue to build upon that tradition during the 2021-2022 school year, and to become “The Best Band in the Land!” As a member of the South Central Band Programs, students are given the opportunity to perform at all home and some away football games, local parades, and select band competitions and performances across the state. Students are also given the ability to participate in any special trips that are planned throughout the year. ALL students participating in the band program will need to fill out a Medical Form and Permission Form before they will be allowed to participate in any band activities. Students DO NOT need to get a physical, but any medical information must be accurate and up-to-date, in case an emergency occurs. These forms are due ASAP. In addition to the Medical Form and Permission Form, a few minor changes have been made with band fees. All MARCHING BAND STUDENTS are required to pay a Marching Band Fee of $225. The fees cover the cost of extra staff that we bring in for camp, a spot in our custom marching band halftime/competition show, marching shoes, travel costs, cleaning of uniform, spats for boots, water/gatorade, and a band t-shirt, which will be worn underneath the uniform to maintain uniformity when the uniform jacket is removed. If you wish to purchase an additional student t-shirt, the cost is $15. Black Combat boots are REQUIRED for each student prior to band camp. Students are responsible for purchasing black combat boots. Any additional costs will be added to the Marching Band fee. Please make any checks payable to “SOUTH CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL”, and include the student’s name on the memo line. We will collect the Marching Band fee in three installments, which are outlined in the payment schedule below. Students may obtain donations and sponsorships to offset their costs. Students may also pay in one lump sum, or may pay ahead of schedule.
