COMMON SCHOLARSHIP FORM -2021
This is the common application for scholarships being offered or administered by Lahainaluna High School Foundation.
Unless otherwise noted, to be eligible for scholarships, all applicants must:
Be accepted into a school of higher learning Be a graduating senior from LHS Complete the 2021 Common Application form
Applications must be turned in to Mrs. Ivy Huerter at Lahainaluna’s main office by 4 PM, Thursday, April 1, 2021

5. Phoebe Toshikiyo Takenaga $1,000
Preference for high performing students
6. H & K Takenaga Legacy $1,500
7. Eugene Takenaga Memorial Scholarship $2,500
Preference to a student who demonstrates excellence in science-technology engineering math (STEM)
8. Ted Toshikiyo Memorial Scholarship $2,500
Preference to a student who demonstrates excellence in architectural/engineering
9. Roy & Betty Sakamoto (renewable) $1,500
GPA not a factor
10. Sammy Kadotani Service Award $500
Demonstrated commitment to community service
Include examples and describe their importance in essay
11. Maureen Setsuko Ariyoshi Memorial $1,000
Preference to students majoring in hospitality, tourism, visitor industry related fields.
12. Lahainaluna High School Foundation $1,000 (4 awards)
One of the four scholarships has preference to students in AOHT

Preference for students majoring in finance or accounting
14. Territorial Savings Bank $1,000
Preference for students majoring in finance or accounting
15. The Lahainaluna Boarders’ Association, Earl “Chief” Kukahiko Memorial $1,000
Preference to boarding students
16. Kihachiro J. Hotta Memorial Endowed $2,000 (award amount may vary)
Preference to boarding students
17. The Lahaina Hawaiian Civic Club $500
Preference to Hawaiian ancestry (Must show proof)
18. Alfredo “Fred” Sarian Memorial $1,000
Preference to students majoring in agriculture, natural resources, boarders, education, or related
19. Ka’anapali Land Management $1,000
Preference to students majoring in agriculture, engineering, architecture
19. Steven R. Strong, M.D. Memorial $2,500
Preference to students majoring in math, science, engineering, technology or medicine.
20. Ebrahim Albert Gabbay, M.D. Memorial $1,000
Preference to students majoring in medicine, science, health related
21. The Makana Aloha Foundation (renewable) $5,000
Must be science major, accepted to a 4-year university declaring science as a major, have taken at least 4 science classes,
maintained a 3.5 GPA in those science classes. Priority given to those that have completed independent study in their science course curriculum.
22. Blaze Kalilikane Memorial $1,000
Preference for student-athlete, GPA not a factor
23. Shigeru & Toyoko Ichiki Endowed (renewable) $12,000 (award amount may vary year-to-year)
Demonstrates good work ethics, character, and financial need
24. Mike M. Nakano Leadership Award $1,000
Shows leadership
25. Shelton ‘Ohana Scholarship (renewable) $1,000
Preference given to given to performing/creative arts experience, pursuing studies in business, the visitor industry, or the arts.
26. Brian Kelly Memorial Music – endowed $1,000 (award amount may vary)
Preference given to students pursuing studies in music
27. Charley Pride Memorial Scholarship $1,500
Preference given to students with musical background
28. Andrew Kutsunai (Future) Teacher $1,000
Preference to students who plan on becoming teachers and plan to teach on Maui.
29. The Luly Baker Scholarship $1,000
Hard worker
30. TS Restaurants Scholarship $500 (4 awards)
Preference to former & current TS Restaurants employees; majoring in hospitality, tourism, visitor industry related fields
