All firearms (including muzzle loaders), must be shipped to a federal firearms license ("FFL") holder in New York to be transferred after the completion of a 4473 form and background check. If you purchase a firearm that the FFL dealer is not able to transfer to you because you may not legally possess it pursuant to New York law, you do not have the required license/permit, your answers to the 4473 form indicate that the FFL dealer cannot legally transfer the firearm to you, and/or you fail the background check, you are responsible for return shipping and restocking fees, in addition to any charges from the FFL dealer to whom the firearm was shipped to be transferred.

We will not ship any firearms to FFL dealers in the City of New York (Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Staten Island).

Muzzle Loading and Antique Firearms

New York law requires all muzzle-loading, black powder, flintlock, matchlock, percussion cap, and antique firearms (produced in 1898 or before) to be shipped to an FFL dealer in New York to be transferred to the purchaser after the completion of a background check, even though they are not considered to be "firearms" for purposes of the Gun Control Act.

Rifles

New York requires a license to purchase a semi-automatic rifle. If you purchase a semi-automatic rifle, make sure you have the required license or fall within an exception to the license requirement or the FFL dealer will not be able to transfer the semi-automatic rifle to you.

The following rifles are prohibited: Semi-automatic rifles that can accept a detachable magazine and have one or more of the following seven features: 1. a folding or telescoping stock; 2. a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; 3. a thumbhole stock; 4. a second handgrip or a protruding grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand; 5. a bayonet mount; 6. a flash suppressor, muzzle break, muzzle compensator, or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor, muzzle break, or muzzle compensator; or 7. a grenade launcher.

Any rifle with an internal/attached/fixed magazine (including a tubular magazine) with a capacity of more than ten (10) rounds.

Buffalo, NY: No semi-automatic centerfire rifles with magazine capacity of more than five (5) rounds

.22 LR caliber rifles of any action with tube-fed magazines of any capacity are permitted. (i.e. semi-automatic, bolt, lever, pump, or slide ? does not include fully-automatic)

Shotguns

The following are prohibited: Semi-automatic shotguns that have one or more of the following five features:

1. a folding or telescoping stock; 2. a thumbhole stock; 3. a second handgrip or a protruding grip that can be held by the

non-trigger hand; 4. a fixed magazine capacity in excess of seven rounds; or 5. an ability to accept a detachable magazine.

Buffalo, NY: No semi-automatic shotguns with magazine capacity of more than five (5) rounds.

Revolving cylinder shotguns (regardless of action type). Any manually operated shotgun with an internal/attached/fixed magazine (including a

tubular magazine) with a capacity of more than ten (10) rounds.

Other Firearms

No firearms except for rifles, shotguns, pistols, revolvers, frames, or receivers will be shipped to New York. The following "firearms" are prohibited: Firearms with a stabilizing brace that are not rifles or shotguns that are designed to be

fired from the shoulder, regardless of barrel length. Smoothbore (non-rifled) barrel firearms with a pistol grip, regardless of barrel length,

including, but not limited to, the Mossberg Cruiser, Mossberg Shockwave, Remington Tac-14, Henry Axe, etc. Shotguns that include both a butt stock and a pistol grip if the pistol grip comes installed instead of the buttstock by the firearm's manufacturer. Lever action "mare's legs" and other "rifle" type firearms without a buttstock.

Handguns

New York requires a license to purchase and possess handguns (pistols and revolvers). If you do not have the required license or do not fall within an exemption, the FFL dealer in New York to whom the handgun is shipped will not be able to transfer it to you. The following are prohibited:

Semi-automatic handguns that have one or more of the following eight features: 1. a folding or telescoping stock; 2. a thumbhole stock; 3. a second handgrip or a protruding grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand; 4. capacity to accept an ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip; 5. a threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer; 6. a shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel and that permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the non-trigger hand without being burned; 7. A manufactured weight of fifty ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded; or 8. a semiautomatic version of an automatic rifle, shotgun or firearm.

Any handgun with an internal/attached/fixed magazine with a capacity of more than ten (10) rounds.

Ammunition / Accessories

The following will not be shipped to New York customers:

Ammunition or ammunition components. ( NO exemption for law enforcement. ) Body armor. Any device, component, part, combination of parts, attachment, or accessory that

increases the rate of fire of any firearm, including, but not limited to, bump stocks, trigger cranks, and binary trigger systems is prohibited. Magazines with a capacity of more than ten (10) rounds. Buffalo, NY: Magazine capacity limited to five (5) rounds for semi-automatic centerfire rifles and shotguns. Magazine extenders that add one (1) or more rounds to the capacity of any magazine.

under various trade names, including, but not limited to, Tannerite, H2, Last Man Standing, etc. Electronic dart gun, electronic stun gun, switchblade knife, pilum ballistic knife, metal knuckle knife, cane sword, billy, blackjack, bludgeon, plastic knuckles, metal knuckles, chuka stick, sand bag, sandclub, wrist-brace type slingshot or slungshot, shuriken or "Kung Fu star."

ACTIVE POLICE OFFICERS are exempt from certain of the above restrictions with proper credentials on file*.

*Must provide valid, non-expired LE photo ID

ACTIVE PEACE OFFICERS are exempt from certain of the above restrictions if the firearm(s) being

purchased is / are for DUTY USE ONLY.

*Must provide department letterhead along with proper credentials. *LE letterheads must be submitted for each purchase.

For NEW YORK CITY and associated counties:

POLICE OFFICERS and PEACE OFFICERS are exempt from these restrictions as long as they are purchasing the firearm(s) for DUTY USE and have authorization from their employers (department letterhead). LE letterheads must be submitted for each purchase.
