← Read the following very carefully and ensure that all staff members who operate the Helper-400 are fully briefed on safety compliance.

← Helper-400 is a patient tsit/stand lift. Do not use this lift for any other purpose.

← Do not attempt to lift more than the Maximum Lifting Capacity.

← Only trained caregivers should operate the Lift.

← Do not place your hands or feet anywhere near the moving parts of the Lift when raising and lowering the boom or adjusting the legs spreading.

← Use both hands for a patient transportation.

← Do not store the Lift in the areas with high humidity.

← Do not use loaded lift on uneven or rough floor.

← Never use a damaged or not recommended sling.

← Use only the specified sling and accessories to maintain patient safety.

← Do not use the lift in the shower to avoid the electrical shock, and always keep all the parts of the Lift clean and dry.

← Do not place or store the batteries under direct sunlight or near a heat source.

← Never use a Lift with damaged power cord or wire connectors.

← Inspect the wrapping carefully when receiving the Table and if there are signs of damage, you must contact your transporter immediately.

← Do not use sharp objects or a knife when unpacking to avoid damage to the wiring or paint.

← Check the voltage rating on the serial plate of the adaptor. The adaptor should only be inserted into 110 VAC or 220 VAC power outlet as indicated on the serial plate.

← Before starting of installation of the Lift carefully read this manual.

The helper-400 Patient Lift equipped with two doubled front castors and two single rear castors. These rear castors have foot-operated brakes.

Brakes should only be used when stopping on inclined floors or during some preparations for transferring or lowering.

Never use the brakes when raising or lowering a patient.

To apply the brakes, press the end of the lever down (Fig. 1).

To release the brakes, press the front of the lever forward and down (Fig. 2).

To raise a patient, press the UP button on the hand controller until the patient gets to the desired height (Fig. 3).

To lower a patient, press the DOWN button on the hand controller until the patient gets to the desired height (Fig. 3).

The Emergency Shut-Off of the Electrical Power could be done at any time by pushing the red button on the Control Unit (Fig. 4). To release the Shut-Off, press and turn clockwise the Emergency button.

NOTE: NEVER USE A LIFT WITH DAMAGED POWER CORD OR WIRE CONNECTORS

The Secondary Lowering control is located at the bottom of the control unit (yellow button with arrow on it). This button could be used if the hand controller is temporary unreachable or stops functioning (Fig. 4 view A).

The Helper-400 is also equipped with The Emergency Lowering feature allowing to lower the

patient even if the battery is unavailable at the moment or any electrical part experiencing a problem.

To lower a patient using Emergency Lowering feature pull the red device up as shown on the Fig. 5 and hold until a patient gets the desired height.

This feature is safe and works slow.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPEN ACTUATOR OTHERWISE THE ONE WILL NOT BE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY.

The Helper-400 Battery Pack has been specially developed for use with MCU control unit.

The Battery Pack is easy to exchange through an integrated snap system and medically

approved as a part of MCU system according to EN 60601-1, CAN/CSA-C22.2, No601-1-M90

and UL 2601-1.

High Battery capacity (24 VDC, 4.5 Ah) allows lifting 200 lbs. up to 100 times per charge.

This Battery Pack has to be charged either through the Control Unit and Mains Adapter or

through the Charging Station (see below).

To extend the life time for the Battery Pack, it should be charged every day until the green light is ON (on the panel) with continuous use and once in a few days for the time-to-time use.

The time for the full charge is about 4 hours.

To Remove The Battery from the Control Unit, tug at the handle up by one hand supporting the battery on a side by another (battery will be released from the snap-lock) (Fig. 6 View A).

Then pull the battery out of the mounting bracket straight forward (Fig. 6 View B).

To Place the Battery into the Control Unit, insert the screws which are at the back of the battery into the opened spots on the mounting bracket (Fig. 6 View C) and push the battery down until you hear the snap.

NOTE: ALWAYS USE BOTH HANDS WHILE REMOVING THE BATTERY OR PLACING IT BACK INTO THE CONTROL UNIT OR CHARGING STATION.

DO NOT DROP THE BATTERY. DAMAGED BATTERY IS UNABLE TO HOLD A CHARGE.

The Helper-400 Charging Station has been especially designed for use as a wall-charger for the Battery Pack.

Mains voltage 120VAC and 230VAC is on the same charger. And could be used with either 120V or 230V adapter.

This charger is medically approved.

The green light in the window indicates that the battery fully charged.

The flashing yellow light in the window indicates that battery is empty and it will take a few hours until full charge.

The yellow light in the window requires from a few minutes to an hour for the battery to be fully charged.

The Helper-400 is designed to provide minimal effort for manoeuvring in tight spaces while the spreading legs accommodate wide chairs and toilets.

To close the legs step on the right side of the pedal (Fig. 8 View B) or if you have power base option press the bottom-right button and hold until the legs are closed (Fig. 8 View C). The legs will stop automatically.

To open the legs step on the left side of the pedal (Fig. 8 View E) or if you have power base option press the bottom-left button and hold until the legs are opened (Fig. 8 View F). The legs will stop automatically.

If the Helper-400 temporarily experiencing any troubles with lifting/lowering or power adjusting of the legs:

-check the red emergency button;

-check all the connectors under the control unit (hand control, actuator 1, actuator 2, adapter);

-check the battery condition;

-call for service.

Thank you for purchasing this Lift manufactured with high quality components. Ann Unicare warrants that product will be free from defects in material and workmanship, under normal use, for period of five years for metal frame; two years for actuator, charger, soft coverings; and one year for the battery pack from the date of purchase by original purchaser. Service must be performed by the factory or authorized service centre and includes the cost of the parts and labour to replace it, however transportation of the returned goods for repair is not covered by the warranty.

Any consequence arising from unskilled or incorrect handling of Product is not covered by this warranty.

For warranty coverage, fill your name and address into QIC form (page 16), photocopy and return to factory for registration.

The Table has been QC checked and will operate without parts replacement for many years. No periodic servicing, other than cleaning and visual check is required.

CONDITION

INSPECTOR

The following monthly inspection procedures are for the personnel who are responsible for the maintenance and inspection.

Ann Unicare Inc. accepts no responsibility for ongoing inspections.

Monthly Procedures (Refer to Fig.9 for parts identification):

NO. 1, 13-clean as necessary and check brakes functionality;

NO. 12-make sure nuts holding casters (1, 13) are tight;

NO. 18-check two bolts to ensure they are tight;

NO. 21, 48-clevis pins holding actuator should be fully inserted and secured with split rings;

NO. 22-run actuator from lowest to highest position to ensure the end switches working properly; load the lift with some weight and check the emergency lowering system;

NO. 25-check the bolt tightness by trying to remove the spreader bar by shaking the ends;

there should be a little of play (under 1 degree);

NO. 32, 37-ensure the nut is tight with a bolt; same at boom and mast joint;

NO. 30-all three screws must to be tight;

NO. 41-check the battery condition;

NO. 42-check the functionality of the hand controller;

NO. 43-check the emergency stop button; ensure all the connectors are fully inserted into the sockets on the bottom of the control unit;

NO. 44, 45-check the connection between adapter and charger and ensure the screws holding the charger are tight;

WELDING SPOTS-check all the welding spots on the base, mast, boom; if you find any crack stop using the Lift and immediately call to manufacturers service department.

Photocopy and use the table on the page 15 for monthly inspections.

The inspection is not limited with described parts above, but also includes some cleaning and thorough visual check.
