Indiana Professional Emergency Manager Courses Underway

The COVID numbers are not pretty these days, which

means of all of us continue to face challenges we

thought were behind us.

But with better data and resources to help treat and

transport those impacted by the virus, your counties

have a better toolkit to deal with the pandemic at the

local level. Also, you can be confident that IDHS and

the Indiana Department of Health are collaborating

effectively to do everything within their power to protect

Hoosiers and support all efforts at the local level.

Testing and vaccination sites remain operational across

the state. Indiana no longer has shortages of PPE and

other equipment necessary to protect the public safety

community. Hospitals, while seriously stretched right

now, are holding their own in treating the influx of

patients.

Remember to connect local officials with one another in

a concerted, team effort to best protect your

community. Emergency management requires ongoing

collaboration and planning, which is critical in this

evolving pandemic. Most of all, take care of yourself

and make your health a priority. You remain an

important part of the solution to reaching the other side

of this ordeal.

2021 EMAI Registration

Open

Several EMA directors and IDHS employees attended

the L0101 Foundations of Emergency Management

class at the Hendricks County 4H Fairgrounds during

the week of Aug. 16-20. This course is one of five

needed to achieve the Indiana Professional Emergency

needed to achieve the certification have been

scheduled:

Sept. 7-8: L146 - HSEEP

?

Oct. 4-6: L102 - Science of Disaster

EMPG Compliance Clarification

EMAI conference registration is now

open. This year's conference is Oct.

20-22 at the Indianapolis Marriott

East, with pre-conference sessions

on Oct. 19. The theme for EMAI

2021 is "Together Towards

Tomorrow."

Recently, confusion has existed as to what trainings are

required for EMPG compliance. If you already have

taken the required trainings for EMPG compliance and

been approved, you are not required to retake the most

updated version of the courses. If you are new to

EMPG compliance, then you must take the most

updated versions.
