BRIGHT FUTURES SCHOLARSHIPS OFFERED BY THE STATE OF FLORIDAThere are three scholarship awards under the title of Florida Bright Futures. The following is a list of the current requirements. A student may qualify for all three award levels but may only receive the highest one earned.Bright Futures awards now cover only a portion of the tuition at Florida public institutions. Detailed information may be found at SSFAD/BF/awardamt.htm as changes in legislation may still occur.The Florida Academic Scholars (FAS) Award requires:3.5 weighted GPA in the 16 credits identified by the Florida Board of Regents college-preparatory courses:4 English4 Math (Algebra I and above)3 Science3 Social Studies2 Foreign Language (must be the same language, 2 consecutive years)SAT score of 1280 or higher or ACT score of 28 or higher (class of 2013)SAT score of 1290 or higher or ACT score of 29 or higher (class of 2014 and thereafter)100 hours of documented community serviceFlorida Medallion Scholars (FMS) Award requires:3.0 weighted GPA in the 16 credits identified by the Florida Board of Regents as college-preparatory courses:4 English4 Math (Algebra I and above)3 Science3 Social Studies2 Foreign Language (must be the same language, 2 consecutive years)SAT score of 1020 or higher or ACT score of 22 (class of 2013)SAT score of 1170 or higher or ACT score of 26 (class of 2014 and thereafter)75 hours of documented community serviceThe Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars (GSV) Award requires:3.0 weighted GPA in the 16 specific courses3.5 un-weighted GPA in the required 3 vocational courses in the same program30 hours of documented community serviceThe following minimum scores on one of the following tests:PERT - Reading Comprehension 83ACT - Reading 18Sentence Skills83English17Elementary Algebra72Math19SAT -Verbal440Math440*The GSV can be applied to any of the following: Career Certificate Programs, Applied Technology Diploma Programs, or Technical Degree Education Programs (AS, AAS, CCC). ................
