We don't currently issue certificates to Fellows. The practise was apparently discontinued quite some time ago.
Our new treasurer has just taken over and he will be in touch with you about your subscription in due course. Please don't be concerned if this takes a week or two, or even more as he is updating the membership database which will take some time. I will let him know that you have inquired.
Thank you so much for your kindness in offering to send a copy of your research paper but the RSSA does not have the facility for receiving Fellows' papers.

THE BLESSING OF SPRING
The season of spring is upon us once more,
Refreshing hope with sights galore!
Blossoming daffodils and emerging buds,
Productive fields and awakening woods!
In the still-bare trees the cuckoo sings,
The herald of spring, the wanton king!
If only he knew how significant his call,
A yardstick of renewal, acknowledged by all!
Milder cold and invigorating smells,
Chicks emerging from brittle shells!
With lengthening days the darkness yields,
And seasonal bunnies congregate in fields!
For many a creature the hibernation ends,
And every busy bird to its nesting tends!
Mellow breeze and clearing haze,
Surely theadvent of more pleasant days!
Sporadic rain, the amassed sky breaches,
And thereby the moisture the vegetation reaches.
Pitter-patter raindrops thud to the ground
And abundant flora shall soon abound!
And in the pastures the lambing begins;
Each hopeful farmer praying for twins!
Very soon we see, the mother sheep stare,
Bestowing upon lambs, novel motherly care!
The frisky lambs play, 'Chase me now!'
But all too soon they are famished, oh how!
They suckle their mothers with dramatic gestures,
Then sit contentedly in the lime-green pastures!
One season in four will new life bring,
So glorified be God, The Maker of Spring!

Although biting midges have a worldwide distribution, there is nowhere quite like Scotland in terms of the havoc that these tiny insects can cause. Midges have been around for millions of years and still there is no effective means of control. In Scotland during the 1940's, a Government-funded 'Midge Control Unit' was set up at the University of Edinburgh, headed by Professor Doug Kettle. The team involved produced a wealth of data on the ecology and biology of midges in Scotland, although failed to provide any solutions to their control. Recently, we have been taking a fresh look at how midges interact with their environment, in an attempt to identify chinks in the midge's armour where novel interventions could be aimed in an attempt to reduce the nuisance caused to both man and animals. This has included the identification of naturally-occurring repellents, in addition to the cocktail of smells usually used by a midge to find a bloodmeal; incorporated into a novel trapping system (the 'Midgeater'), capable of collecting >1 million midges in a single day. This talk will outline the research we have been involved with and attempt to outline a 'survival guide' for coping with these insects in Scotland

THEY WILL ENJOY PUPILS' ASKING OF QUESTIONS AND DR AZAM'S SKILL IN ANSWERING THESE IN AN INTERESTING WAY AND WITH A TOUCH OF HUMOUR.
PERHAPS BBC 2 WOULD BE THE BEST CHANNEL TO BROADCAST THIS SHOW BECAUSE, ACCORDING TO THE CHANNEL REQUIREMENTS ON THE 'COMMISSIONING' WEBSITE, BBC 2 IS ALWAYS LOOKING FOR 'A NEW IDEA' OR 'NEW SUBJECT' WHICH IS ALSO 'SOMETHING ENJOYABLE.

Monitoring Earthquakes in the UK

On Monday 18th October 2004, at 7 pm
People in the UK tend not to think of this country as subject to
earthquakes. Such earthquakes as do occur (discounting minor ones that
are
hardly felt and cause no damage) are infrequent and quickly forgotten.
No
one has been killed by a British earthquake since 1940. Yet this is
partly
a matter of luck. The largest British earthquakes in the last hundred
years or so have mostly been in rural locations, and typically 15-20 km
deep. As a result, though windows may be rattled over a wide area,
there
is usually very little damage. This luck may not continue; even a
moderate
earthquake could do significant damage if it occurred at shallow depth
under a major city; London, Birmingham, Manchester, Swansea and Glasgow
are among the potential locations where such a thing could happen. As a
result, it is important to keep a close eye on earthquakes, even in a
country like Britain. This talk will give an insight into the seismic
monitoring operations of the British Geological Survey, the patterns of
earthquake activity revealed, and how historical research turns out to
be
important when it comes to advising engineers about the risk from
future
earthquakes in the UK.

ALLAHU AKBAR( in response to your ramadan greeting),
INSHA ALLAH before this week runs out, i hope the man( my neighbour) would be chanced so that the money could be cashed.
But, has i am waiting for him,there are three thing i would like you to advice me on it.i mean have three things(which i have to select one)of which i am hoping to use the money for. the items are listed below :
1 should i use the money to get my international passport in case 'am opportuned to receive either money or any international money transfer?
2 should i keep the money to pay the bill i would be charge when it is time to started processing my admission into tertiary institution?
3 should i take part of the money and give those who has cotributed to my success in the competition?
Inconclution, i am only trying to seek your advice so that i will spend the on a 'fertile ground'. Moreover, concerning the travelling process, what role wuold you play?i shall let you know as soon as the money is received.

By now i should have been telling you how i have spent the money.But,
no thanks to the trickish attitude the so called MR RASAQ BADAMUS who
have been giveing me baseless reasoning and excuses on.
