1.0 General This specification guide covers the general requirements for design,
information/ manufacturing and installation of low voltage measuring and
Introduction monitoring relays for monitoring three-phase mains.
2.0 Product features/ The device shall be designed for monitoring three phase supply
product functions voltages for incorrect phase sequence, phase loss, phase unbalance as well as overvoltage and undervoltage. The product should be able to be used to monitor voltages from 160-500 V AC in two ranges without neutral monitoring, and from 90-280 V AC in two ranges with neutral monitoring.
The threshold values for phase unbalance (2-15 %) and the threshold values for permissible over- and undervoltage, Vmin and Vmax shall be adjustable by calibrated front-face dials.
A ON- or OFF-delay time (0.1-10 s) should be selectable for the over-/ undervoltage and unbalance monitoring functions. The delay time shall be adjustable with a front-face potentiometer. A hysteresis of 5% shall be fixed.
The output relays fall back (de-energize) when one of the phase failures occurs. The fault type is displayed via LEDs. The output relays re-energize as soon as all monitored parameters are back within the adjusted limits.
The product should be provided with the following LED indications:
- Failure 1 (preferably red LED with different flashing frequencies for different failures)
- Failure 2 (preferably red LED with different flashing frequencies for different failures)
- Supply voltage and relay status (preferably green LED)
The multifunctional 3-phase monitoring relays shall be ABB type CM-MPS or pre-approved equal.
3.0 Conformance/ The multifunctional 3-phase monitoring relays shall be designed,
standards manufactured and tested in accordance with the latest editions of applicable IEC standards.

AC15 (inductive) @ 230 V: 3 A
DC12 (resistive) @ 24 V: 4 A
DC13 (inductive) @ 24 V: 2 A
Operating temperature range: -20 °C … +60 °C
Storage temperature range: -40 °C … +85 °C
6.0 Mechanical The multifunctional 3-phase monitor shall be realized in a requirements 22.5 mm wide enclosure, possible to be mounted on DIN rail
according to EN 50022. The connection terminals shall be able to accept stranded wires in the size of 2 x 2.5 mm2 (2 x 14 AWG) with wire end ferrule. The enclosure should have a protection degree of IP50 and the terminals should have a protection degree of IP20. The mounting position of the device in a cabinet shall not be limited. The product shall have a mechanical shock resistance according to IEC 68-2-6 of minimum 6 g.
7.0 Quality The vendor shall be certified in accordance to ISO 9001 (quality
requirements management system) and ISO 14001 (environmental certification).
A complete environmental product declaration (EPD) shall be
available upon request. The EPD shall describe the material
used for the multifunctional 3-phase monitoring relay, energy consumption, losses, etc.
The product shall be functionally tested prior to shipment to assure
proper operation per specification.
8.0 Documentation The device shall be shipped with an operation and instruction sheet
including functional diagrams, connection diagrams and set up
information. A data sheet describing the device shall be available.
9.0 Startup and Startup procedures shall be intuitive and simple enough so as not to
adjustment require factory assistance or training. All adjustments shall be made from the front of the multifunctional 3-phase monitor by using rotary switches with direct reading scales. Relative scales should not be used.
10.0 Accessories As accessory a sealable transparent cover and a panel mounting adaptor shall be available.
