On my 86 boat and diagram a grey #16 wire goes from this connector direct to the tach. It does NOT go through the 8 pin wiring harness connector plug 3. Positive output. Alternator output. Two wires on this point. The orange #10 wire going thru pin #4 on the wiring harness connector to the amp meter. Pre 1987? or so boats. ................
