WelcomeWelcome to the SARDS Installation Manual. Before downloading the SARDS Installation, please review the supported platforms, software requirements and prerequisites. A basic knowledge of Windows operating systems is required.2. Software PrerequisitesThe following is needed when installing on:3.1 Windows 8, 8.1 & 10 (32-bit or 64-bit)Microsoft .Net Framework 4.6.1Windows Installer 4.5 Microsoft SQL Server Compact 4NOTE: The installer will prompt you to download a prerequisite, if required.3.2 Windows 7 (64-bit)Windows 7 is no longer officially supported. If the software is to be installed on a Windows 7 64-bit operating system, please ensure that Service Pack 1 is correctly installed and registered by the PC. Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (Use the installer and not the Windows update)Windows Installer 4.5 Microsoft SQL Server Compact 44. RegistrationTo access and use the SARDS software, you must be registered as a user. To register, browse to the ITIS website at and select the Register option to initiate the process.556768087630004.1 The Registration SequenceAfter initiating the registration process, you will be redirected to the ‘Terms of Use’ screen. Please read the terms and conditions before proceeding.Once you have familiarized yourself with the content, accept the Term and Conditions and click ‘Next’.On the following screen, select ‘Service Provider’ as the registration category option.A service provider is classified as a person authorised to work on the system but is not directly employed by SANRAL.On the Product page, select the ‘SARDS Software’ option and tick ‘SARDS Desktop Application’ as product type.On the User Details screen, you will need to enter your contact details, including your SA Id- or Passport number. Also, note the international format required for telephone numbers.On the following screen, you will be prompted to upload a photo of yourself, as well as a copy of your ID / Passport. Please ensure that the documents adhere to the specifications set out below. To upload the documents, click on the ‘Browse’ button. It will allow you to navigate to the file you wish to upload. Select the file and click ‘Open’.Photo specifications:The photo must be a close-up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70 – 80% of the photo;Colour photo of high quality with no special effects;Shows you looking directly at the camera;The photo must have appropriate brightness and contrast; Maximum allowed file size is 1MB;File formats allowed include jpeg, png and gif.ID specifications:Size: Not bigger than 2MBFormat: jpeg, gif, pdf, doc, docxNext, supply your Handset details. This information will only be used for statistics in the mobile development environment.The Organization Details screen is displayed next. If your organization already exists, then select its name from the popup window, otherwise please enter the details requested. Once done, you will be prompted to enter a captcha value for security validation.Selecting the ‘Register’ button will save the supplied data to the system and trigger a confirmation e-mail to be sent to the e-mail address provided. Once the mail is received, click on the link provided to verify the address. Please note that the link will expire after 24 hours.The request is now forwarded to SANRAL for approval. Once approved, a second e-mail will be sent detailing the result of your request. If the request is approved, the mail sent will contain your username, as well as the license number required for software registration. Proceed to and log onto the system with the credentials provided.5. Software Download5.1 Retrieving the SARDS installation filesTo download the latest SARDS installation file, log on to ITIS with your username and password.Browse to My Account > Download > and select the ‘SARDS Module’ tab.Select the option needed for your install.Full Install: This option includes the SARDS Prerequisites, orClick Once Installer: If the prerequisites are already installed, use this option for updates etc.After making your selection, you will be prompted to save the file. It will save to your local ‘Downloads’ folder. Use the ‘Save’ option and not the ‘Open’ option, also ensure that the download has completed before starting with the installation. The full install filename is ‘SARDSSetup_Pre.zip’. This file needs to be extracted via WinZip or 7-Zip to initiate and run the setup process (setup.exe).The click-once installer file is named ‘SARDS.WPF.application’. Double-clicking this file will initiate the installation process.Please note that you will require administrator rights on your machine to do the installation.Some anti-virus programs will request permission to continue with the installation but not respond to your selection. In this case it will be necessary to disable the anti-virus software before installing SARDS. Reactive the ant-virus software once the installation is complete.If you experience technical issues when installing the software, contact the technical support team via e-mail at itisissues@nra.co.za for assistance. The email needs to contain a short description of the problem in the Subject line. (E-mails without a subject line will be rejected.) The body of the email should describe the problem and contain your contact details. 5.2 Launching the ApplicationDouble click on the SARDS Desktop shortcut on your Desktop. When running the software for the first time you must register the software. To register the software you need the username, password and software license key sent in the request approval (2nd) e-mail.For further information on the use of the software, please reference the SARDS Desktop Manual. The document can be opened after registration by navigating to myACCOUNT > User Manuals after logging onto ITIS. ................
