I come to know about all four section of Vigyan Ashram like Engineering-workshop practices, Home and Health section, Electrical, Agriculture section. Also Vigyan Ashram have FAB LAB i.e. Digital Fabrication Laboratory. Following information I got from official web site of Vigyan Ashram about FAB LAB ()‘We can make almost anything!’ in the tagline of Fab Lab.??Fab Lab, a brain child of Dr. Neil Greshenfield (Director, Center of Bits and atoms, MIT (USA)) is a?collection of commercially available machines and parts linked by software and processes MIT has developed for making things. The project aims to give ordinary people around the world the technology to design and make their own stuff.Vigyan Ashram is the first fab lab outside MIT. It is established in 2002 and received capital equipment by NSF-USA and IITK.??Fab Lab is kind of?distributed international network of scientific researchers and community inventors to define conduct and apply new discoveries and inventions?for benefit to both research and local communities.Goal of the Fab Lab is to find solutions to some of the most passing problems the world faces today through distributed research network. VA has taken various appropriate technology projects under Fab lab. Some of them are, Human power based lighting solution LED lightsEgg incubator Agriculture sensors etc. VA Fab Lab hosts several innovative students projects (Diploma-Graduate-Master) every year.Fab lab at Pabal?currently comprises of?following equipments:Laser cutting MachineRoland Milling Machine, 3 D scannerVinyl cutting machineElectronic table (Oscilloscope, Soldering equipment etc.)Objectives:-For my projects Mr. Ranjeet Shanbhag sir allots me @ FAB LAB with Miss. Pradnya Shindekar madam who is in-charge of FAB LAB. Project allotted to me is ‘Indoor plants and live bouquet’. After discussion with madam we made scratch plan for project and then started surfing on internet about near about same project-Ideas.Steps are followed:Design ThinkingSelection of Plants, seeds, propagation media Designing Card sheet model makingActual Model Conclusion:-I learn about - various new design software like Inscape, Google sketch up as well as learned about procedure and cutting of Acrylic sheet on laser machine.Laser machine purely made for cutting of non-metallic things like card board, card sheet, soft wood and Acrylic sheets.Machine Specification:Epilog mini Engraver (12” by 24” bed size)Metallic Tube (40watt)On this machine I did cutting (vectoring) and engraving on acrylic. I got knowledge about setting of speed, power and frequency as per model required.Madam and I decided to use propagation media like coco peat, vermi compost in some models and also soil and coco peat in rest of models.Coco peat is lighter than soil as compared water and commonly preferred as best media in organic farming e.g. kitchen gardening etc. Software used (Tools):-FAB LAB has various design software which is open source like blender, Google sketch up, Inkscape, Librecad etc. out of these we used Google sketch up and Inkscape software. Details of the software is given for your reference. Google sketch up software:-Google Sketch Up is open source - 3D modeling computer program for applications such as architectural, interior design, civil and mechanical engineering film, and video game design. It is freeware version. We can easily design 3D view in it.Inksape software:-This software basically used for 2D design and for cutting on laser cutter machine.*I did 3D design in Google skectch up and 2D design in Inkscape.Printing Details:-After designing in Inkscape - save your file in (.svg) format. Before printing, save your documents in (.pdf) format. Later this, you can print your job on laser cutter machine. Before design in Inkscape you need to follow steps given below:Set bed size from document properties.Replace units ‘px’ to ‘inch’.After design add ‘fill and stroke’ properties.Laser beam stroke 0.010mm always.Laser machine Details:-Note: While Cutting, EngravingIf you are going to do ‘VECTOR’ cutting then you must to do as per following in fill and stroke properties,1) Fill– None 2) Stroke paint – None 3) Stroke style – 0.010mmFor printing you have to select as per below,Vector selection, Speed-less than power (30-50% max.), Power-100%, Frequency – 2500-5000If you are going to do ‘RASTERING’ engraving then you must to do as per following in fill and stroke1) Fill – Yes 2) Stroke paint – Yes 3) Stroke style – 0.010mmFor printing you have to select as per below,Vector selection, Speed-high than power (50-80% max.), Power-70%, Frequency – 2500-5000(For ref. download laser print chart from )Safety and precaution while working:-Always start machine before 5-10 minutes for preheating.Exhaust blower should be start always with laser machine.Use mask to avoid direct inhale acrylic gas while cutting acrylic sheet. Always start machine with room temperature, not in high temperature.Innovative evergreen gift patternsPattern 01Steps:-Sr. No.Steps for designingPicture1.3D design on Google sketch up2.Trial on corrugated box3.Design on Inkscape software4. As acrylic sheet and laser cutter machine is used so model is expensive.Anyone can develop live bouquet concept under this project.Results:-At one stage due to excess water, plants get rooted. After 10 days I found that, due to high temperature plants leaves get damaged somehow burn, so I put the models near the window.Due to high temperature, seeds was not germinate till 15 days.Due to limitations of project time, we decided to use readymade plants. But I will continue the testing of seeds to see further progress. ................
