Lesson Plans for Third Grade

Student must pick up reading textbook, Wordly Wise book, and math packet to have at home so the following assignments can be completed.

Reading 1.Go to the website .

Click on reading. Then select a state and hit GO.

Go to students and click on it.

Go to your reading book and click on it.

Find the current unit that you are currently in.

Find the next story that we haven’t done.

Start with the slide show.

Then do Activity 1 and 2 under Oral Language Activities.

Read the next story in your textbook

2. Continue to read the assigned book for book club.

3. Optional- Do the Research and Inquiry Activities on the Macmillan website that go along with the unit and story that you have just finished reading.

Spelling and Vocabulary- Do the activities available at this same website that go with the story you are currently reading.

Wordly Wise- Go to the next lesson in your book and complete all the exercises that go with it. Go to the website pages/pampel.html to review www words by playing the various games.

Math- need work packet as mentioned above

Week#1 – Choose 5 activities from the page titled “Family”; do all the practice sheets marked week #1; online visit our quia site to practice math facts daily.

Week# 2 – Choose 5 other activities from the page titled “Family; do all the practice sheets marked week #2; online visit our quia site to practice math facts daily.

Third grade

Writing lesson plan: Please write a personal narrative as prompted by the Houghton-Mifflin website. Follow the instructions below, so that you may complete a writing assignment without instructions from your teacher, but with prompts from our English textbook website.

1.Go to kids

2.Choose your state: New Jersey

3.Find your subject and click on it: Reading/Language Arts

4.Click on our book : English

5.Click on Grades K -5

6. Scroll down to “Bright Ideas for Writing” and click on it.

7.Click on Personal Narrative “Take me out to the ball game.” This will give you your topic.

8.To help you organize your ideas you have access to graphic organizers. To get there you need to scroll down and click on “Kids Place Houghton Mifflin English. On that page look for “Graphic organizers” and click on that. You will see a page of different types of graphic organizers. Click on either the “describing wheel” or “sandwich.” Print this organizer and use it to organize your thoughts.

9.After writing your notes, it is time to write a first draft. Do this on a piece of your notebook paper.

10.Next, you need to check your own work. The web site has a way to help you do this. (If you’ve logged off the site, you’ll need to follow prompts 1 through 5.) Go back to “Kids Place Houghton Mifflin English.” Look for “Evaluation Station.” Click on it, and then look under third grade for “Personal Narrative.” Click on that and follow the instructions to proofread your narrative.

11.Once you have edited your work, you are ready to write your final copy. Take a new piece of notebook paper. Write your name and date across the top line. Write your title in the center of the next line. Then skip a line and start your paragraph. Don’t forget to indent!
