To write an information paragraph
Planning
· Choose an aspect (angle) you are going to focus on.
· Draft a topic sentence. This tells the reader what aspect you are going to write about (for example “OLC 4OI” is a subject. “OLC 4OI, is a class filled with smart, humorous and caring students.” is a topic sentence).
· List supporting details. Put them in chronological order, or by importance
Writing
Write in the 3rd person perspective: ie: Mrs. Urquhart’s family is the most important part of her life.
· Write your information paragraph using your topic sentence and the details you listed.
· Use connecting words (like “first, second, third” or “then” or “because”) to join the points you listed.
· Include at least four pieces of information
· Write a final sentence that restates the main idea (your topic sentence) and summarizes the supporting details.
