ALL SONGS MUST BE AT LEAST 4 MEASURES LONG UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED.

1. Begin with the parts of the instrument. You must draw an instrument and label each part.

2. Proper posture, guitar position, and playing position.

3. Introduce quarter notes, quarter rests, staff, clef, measure, bar line, music alphabet, and time signature. (Basically how do you read music.) DO NOT USE “DO” BUT INSTEAD NOTE NAMES (ABCDEFG).

4. Introduce at least 2 open strings and pizzicato…you must create at least 2 songs per new concept (total of 4 songs)

5. Then introduce fingered notes on those strings….at least two new songs per note. (total of 12 songs)

6. Now create 4 songs that combining the open strings and fingered notes.

7. Introduce how to hold and play with the bow (make sure you provide exercises for students to practice this new concept--for example the pencil hold, the wheels on the bus, what time is it, windshield wipers). You need to create 6 songs that provide practice with the bow (you may use scales and arpeggios)

8. Now introduce half notes and dotted half notes along with the half rest. Create 4 songs for extra practice and you may use quarter notes and quarter rests within your song.

9. Introduce eighth notes and eighth rests. Create 4 songs that provide extra practice with eighth notes. You may use half and quarter notes/ rest if you want to.

10. Introduce repeats, second endings and DC al Fine/ DS al Fine. Create 4 songs for extra practice.

11. Introduce slurs and ties and create 4 songs for extra practice

12. Introduce the last 2 open strings along with the fingered notes. Create 4 songs per string using any note values (quarter, half, eighth, dotted half) that you like (total of 8)

13. Introduce F natural and C natural—make sure you provide a picture/ visual of what each note should look like. Create two songs per note for extra practice (total of 4)

14. Lastly create a 16-measure piece that combines everything taught in the book.

15. The book should also include fun facts about composers, music, instruments, a glossary, and color. DO NOT TURN IN YOUR BOOK IN BLACK AND WHITE.
