Distributor Inspection and Removal
Tools Needed;
Tool Board
TDC Whistle
1 - Engine Number 1 - Honda
Hand-Crank the engine until it is at TDC for #1 Cylinder.
Remove and inspect the distributor.
Inspect the distributor binding or loose bearings.
Inspect the distributor O-Ring.
Reinstall the distributor and show the instructor that it is still pointed at cylinder number 1.
Is this sensor a Hall Effect, Photo, or Magnetic Pulse type sensor? ______________________________
Based on your findings is this distributor OK? _______________________________________
2 - Engine Number 2 - Ford
Hand-Crank the engine until it is at TDC for #1 Cylinder.
Remove and inspect the distributor.
Inspect the distributor binding or loose bearings.
Inspect the distributor O-Ring.
Reinstall the distributor and show the instructor that it is still pointed at cylinder number 1.
Is this sensor a Hall Effect, Photo, or Magnetic Pulse type sensor? ______________________________
Based on your findings is this distributor OK? _______________________________________

No Start Diagnosis
Tools needed;
DVOM
Factory Shop Manual
2002 Honda Accord
Customer States - No Start.
Verify if there is a no-spark condition present.
Inspect and check your ignition coil - Ensure the vehicle is off, and the distributor is not electrically connected.
Primary Windings ________________ ohms
Secondary Windings ________________________ ohms
Follow the procedures on page 4-22 for diagnosis. Also use the schematic on page 4-18.

What is the wire color(s) that power the coil __________________
Should there be power at the coil when the key is on? _______________
What three fuses can cause a no-start condition? ______________________________________________
What are the wire color(s) that ground the coil __________________
What are the wire color(s) for the CYP (Cam Sensor) __________________________
Where do they go? ______________________________
If at Step 4, and there is no battery voltage, what other components could be at fault? ______________________
What did you find was the problem at Step 5 _____________________________________________
Hint the ECM is located under the radio, the connectors can be accessed from the passenger side floor.
