RMD CALCULATOR ASSUMPTIONS

RMD CALCULATOR ASSUMPTIONS

The RMD Calculator is an informational tool only and should not be considered as legal, investment, or tax advice. If you have questions about your required minimum distribution (RMD), please consult an investment professional.

The results are based on the information that you provide, therefore Fidelity Investments cannot guarantee the accuracy of results. Estimated account balances and RMDs are not intended to indicate the future performance of your tax-advantaged retirement accounts.

Key assumptions

Results from the calculator assume that: No additional contributions are made to the retirement account balance you've provided No withdrawals are made from your retirement accounts until the age of 72 Only the annual RMD is withdrawn each year for the purposes of estimating future account balances and RMDs Earnings on each account are reinvested on December 31 or the last business day of each year You withdraw your RMD on time by December 31 each year

Results from the calculator do not include: The effect of taxes on the actual amount you will withhold from each RMD The actual performance of your current investments

The default annual rate of return on investments during the distribution period is 5.5%. The default return is used for illustrative purposes only, is not guaranteed and is not the return of an investor's specific security, investment portfolio or strategy. You may change the percentage for one appropriate to your particular situation or allocation of assets in the fields provided as part of the RMD calculator. Your actual investment performance will vary and may produce higher or lower returns, particularly in the long term. Securities that have the potential to provide a higher rate of return are associated with a higher level of risk. Many people seek to invest in securities with a lower level of risk and return as they get closer to, or in retirement.

Regarding the calculation

The calculations performed by the RMD Calculator follow these rules:

This tool uses the calculation methods as stated in the IRS 2002 final regulations.

This tool uses the IRS Uniform Lifetime Table to calculate RMDs unless you indicate that your spouse is the only beneficiary on your account and is more than 10 years younger than you. If that is the case, the calculator will use the IRS Joint Life Expectancy Table for current and future projections.

For joint life expectancy calculations, the tool only uses the attained age of you and your spouse. Your

"attained age" is your age upon your birthday in that calendar year.

Other important RMD information

The RMD rules for inherited retirement accounts are different. If you have an inherited retirement account learn about RMD Rules for Inherited IRAs.

The deadline for taking RMDs is December 31 each year. However, you can delay taking your first RMD until April 1 of the year after you turn 72.

Distributions from either a Roth IRA or a Traditional IRA before age 59? may be subject to a 10% early withdrawal penalty, unless certain exceptions apply.

With a Roth IRA, you, as the original depositor, are not required to take RMDs during your lifetime.

Distributions from a SEP IRA, SIMPLE IRA, or Keogh before age 59? may be subject to a 10% early withdrawal penalty, unless certain exceptions apply.

Note for Fidelity retirement plan (Keogh) participants who are still working

If you are not more than a 5% owner of the business you work for and you continue to work beyond age 72, the tax laws may allow you to defer taking RMDs from your employer's plan until April 1 of the calendar year after the year in which you retire. If this applies to you, the results from the RMD Calculator may be inaccurate. Please consult with your investment profressional to determine your required beginning date.

The IRS 2002 final regulations and this calculator should not be used to calculate RMDs from qualified retirement plans (e.g., 401(k) and Keogh accounts) unless the plan has adopted the new 2002 final regulations.
