Uninterrupted and Reliable DC Power Solution for Critical Network Device The PLANET UPS-400 protects critical data by supplying reliable, networkgrade power in rack-optimized network. The UPS-400 works with AC power input in the range of 100-240V and one 48V DC output to the critical network devices (ex. PLANET Media Converter Chassis, Ethernet switch or Industrial Ethernet device) with capability of injecting up to 400 watts power. Besides the AC input, it also provides one DC 48V input for extra power connection support that enables UPS-400 be installed as a chain and aggregate with another unit of 400 watts to the power pool. In the network environment, PLANET UPS-400 plays three roles:

- The high capacity Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) - The Redundant Power Supply (RPS) - The 48V DC Power Supply

The UPS-400 increases availability for converged Ethernet data, video stream and VoIP networks. It helps to ensure uninterrupted operation of the connected devices and protection against devices in the event of power supply failure.

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Working as an UPS, the UPS-400 takes over the power provision to the power connected devices when the AC power is shut off. While injecting 48V DC power to the Industrial PoE switch, it also supports power to the connected PoE powered devices with its 400 watts power supply to keep the network continuously working.

Redundant Power Supply (RPS) Not only as an UPS, the UPS-400 is also the redundant power for the connected devices. It can supply 400 watts of backup power to connected devices in the event of an AC power loss or failure of an internal power supply. For the PLANET devices designed with redundancy power system, there are two ways for them to get power - one is by the 100~240V AC universal power supply, and the other is by the 48V DC of the UPS-400 Uninterruptible Power Supply. Once both the AC and DC are used, the UPS-400 is taken as the redundant power supply for power backup in order to prevent power interruption.

48V DC Power Supply Most of the telecom level devices and Industrial Ethernet devices such as the xDSL DSLM/Switch or Industrial PoE switches use 48VDC or dual 12~48V DC as the power source. While injecting DC power to the IE PoE switch, the UPS-400 protects the critical data from the PoE devices powered by the Industrial PoE switch and keep the network alive for the data transmission. The UPS-400 supports 400 watts of electrical power, once the primary DC power shut off, the UPS-400 can take over as the UPS power supply for Industrial PoE switch and keep the switch and the connected powered devices working.
