While “traveling” down the Iditarod trail. Standards Addressed: Common Core State Standards4th Grade: HYPERLINK "" CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.4.NBT.B.6Find whole-number quotients and remainders with up to four-digit dividends and one-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.Learning Objectives:1.) Students will review the process of long division.2.) Students will review the process of estimating quotients. Assessment:Students will complete the “Amazing Iditarod Race” packet. This is will be checked throughout the class.Procedural Activities:1.) Begin class by reviewing the topic. Go over a few examples of the math skill being taught.2.) Explain to the students that they are going to review by completing the “Amazing Iditarod Race”. Students will work in pairs to complete the math work and given task.3.) Students need to check in with the teacher after each checkpoint is completed before moving on the next one.4.) Once students have completed Nome they must take two careful laps around the classroom. They may sit down and complete the “challenge” question on the back page.5.)
