4th Grade Animal Research Project

This assignment is an integrated report covering Science, Writing, and Reading curriculum. It is to be worked on both at home and school.

Step 1: Choose an animal. Your animal will need to be approved by Mr. Stults.

Step 2: Begin researching your animal. You must have a minimum of three resources. The resources must include the following:

1. A non-fiction book

2. An internet website of your choice. You will have some time during class to do research, but most will need to be completed at home. Here is a list of suggested

sites:



















3. The final resource may be of your own choosing. You might find information from another book, website, magazine or encyclopedia. I highly encourage visiting a public library.

4. See other side for how your paragraphs should be organized.

Step 3: Once you have gathered your information, you must begin writing your report. Your report should be either typed or neatly handwritten. Typed reports should be in the following format:

Times New Roman, 12 pt. font, double spaced

Miscellaneous: Report should have a cover page which includes the title of your report, your name and date. The cover should also include a drawing or picture of your animal. The report will also include a bibliography page that will include all the resources you used to complete your report. Remember to write down the title of books, magazines, sites used. Also include authors’ names, date of visit or publication. We will work on the bibliography in class.

The report should include illustrations, pictures, maps, graphs, etc.

The report is due Friday, May 17th.
