Project Idea Due: January 10, 2014

Rough Draft Due: February 7, 2014

Final Draft Due: February 21, 2014

Directions: You will be required to complete an experiment at home based on a question that you create. For 10 points extra credit on your project, you may create a poster board and enter it into the Myers Science Fair on February 25, 2014. Please keep the rubric below at home so you can keep track of the requirements.

Example

the fastest way to cool a can of soda starting at room

temperature.

that putting a can of soda in water and ice will cool the soda the fastest.

cans of soda, thermometer, water , ice, salt, bucket, timer

1. Prepare an ice-only bath by adding enough ice to the bucket to

completely cover one can of soda.

3. Use the thermometer to get a starting temperature for the ice only, bucket, ice-water bucket, and the room temperature can of soda.

2. Prepare an ice-water bath by adding the same amount of ice to a

second bucket, then covering the ice with water.

using a chart to show the beginning and ending temperatures after a 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, and 20 minutes.

using a line graph showing the different times. Also, I will use pictures showing my observations.
