The challenges will also be available on the school website throughout the summer. Each challenge will include a list of 40 options for the students to choose from. For 30 days, the students must complete 30 tasks from the Writing, Math, and the Reading Summer Packet. Students that complete all three challenges will be invited to attend a back to school dance party with an ice cream sundae.The goal of the 30 Day Challenge is to assist students in retaining the information learned throughout the school year. Each task will challenge the students to stretch their thinking. The Writing tasks are to encourage students to use their understanding of the writing process and thoroughly answer writing prompts. Throughout the Math tasks, students will be asked to answer a question and explain their reasoning. This will require students to answer all questions completely and include a written explanation of the steps they took and why. Students should keep their work in a writing/math journal. You may choose to keep one large journal divided into two sections, or two separate journals.The first week of school, students will be asked to bring their 30 Day Challenge in and their new classroom teacher will check it for completion. All students that have completed the challenge for Writing, Reading, and Math will be invited to attend the first school party of the year!
