LIGHT UP THE SKY-- For the past 20 years, the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department hosts a free community Independence Day celebration at Maryvale Baseball Park, 3600 N 51st Ave. This year’s event, from 6:30-9:30 p.m., will again be an opportunity for family and friends to gather at the park meet their neighbors and celebrate, as a community, the true spirit of the holiday. The event will feature inflatables for the kids, community organization tables, games and activities on the field and much more. The highlight of the program is of course the outstanding display of fireworks that concludes the event.
