CAR SHOW AT WINE STYLES 1:00 - 3:00PM

MEETING AT THE ED AND REBECCA LOGAN’S HOME - APPROX 3:30PM

ROWLETT, TX

BEEE THERRRREEEEE!!!!! BRING YOURSELF!! BRING YOU BUICK!!

COMMENTS FROM THE DIRECTOR

We all had a great time at the February meeting at . It was neat to see the interesting cars on display for sale . . . plus the classic Airstream “long” trailer (which many members ate near, with the awning deployed). Similar to last time, there was a car deal “in the making” while we were there, which was later finalized – just not for a Buick this time.

Assistant Director Ed Logan has coordinated with Ms. Plata to orchestrate a car show event, with other clubs, at Wine Styles in Rowlett on March 8th. The show is to be from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, similar in format to last year’s Wine Styles’ show. After the show, we can then trek a short distance to Ed and Rebecca’s home at about 3:30pm for our chapter meeting. Several restaurants are near the show site, so meals can be had at your leisure, although some of the eating places will be closed before the show is over. Last year’s show was enjoyed by all, plus the time afterward at Ed and Rebecca’s home, so be there if you can..

ALSO in March, the Alamo Chapter is hosting a Buick Club of America Board of Director’s Meeting. As we have two BCA Board Members from Texas AND our BCA South Central Region, our Alamo Chapter associates have requested that as many of us who can attend, do attend. The activities they have planned for the attendees (BCA Board Members and other interested BCA members) looks like they will be highly enjoyable.

April brings us to the 2008 Edition of the annual Buicks and Bluebonnets Tour, returning to the Stagecoach Inn in historic Salado, TX. This event is always an enjoyable event put on by our Lone Star Chapter associates from the Houston, TX area. A scenic venue to showcase beautiful Buicks, a small Buick-only swap meet, and enjoy the company of our other BCA associates from other areas of the state.

I need to mention that although we have significant activities in March and April, we will still have our regular monthly chapter meetings. The monthly meetings will be on different weekends so they will NOT interfere with the out-of-town activities—you can do BOTH each month, hopefully.

For May, Andy Walla will be hosting our chapter for the May meeting (at his home). His idea was that it would be a little cooler in May. Everyone agreed with that proposal, so we’ll once again enjoy a great time at Andy’s place with a great covered dish lunch (and probably some home-made ice cream?), except one month sooner than we have in the past.

So far, Year 2008 is shaping up to be an interesting and fun year for our group. Lots of activities and events to consider and make plans to attend. March, April, May, July, and October (so far) . . . plus our regular monthly chapter meetings. Watch for details of these and other events as they develop!

MINUTES OF THE FEBRUARY 9, 2008 MEETING

February meeting was held at in Sunnyvale on February 9. We met for a covered dish luncheon at 12:00 Noon, which was very enjoyable. The day turned out to be very nice for a February day.

After the meal, the meeting was called to order by Director Willis Bell at 1:25pm. There were approximately 30 people in attendance, including three visitors and our host Brent Buckalew. Mr. Buckalew thanked everybody for being there and choosing his establishment for a meeting, as well as for an enjoyable lunch. He went on to explain the operation of his classic car sales venue.

Roy Campbell’s son, Tommy, and his dog, came with Roy to the meeting. Also, Mona Driskell and Jay Jones were visiting. Mona has a “Yellow Rose of Texas” Riviera that she purchased new. She explained the circumstances surrounding her purchase of the car and some unique features of the car. She was interested in finding a buyer for her car . . . who would cherish it as much as she had. Mr. Jay Jones accompanied her to the meeting. We welcome them back anytime.

Roy Campbell announced that the March meeting will be at Wine Styles in Rowlett on March 8th. Other clubs may participate and there will be a car show from 1:00 to 3:00pm, after which we will have a meeting at Ed and Rebecca Logan’s home (nearby). There are many restaurants in the immediate area whre everyone can eat before we go to the meeting at the Logans.

April’s meeting location is still “open”. Buicks and Bluebonnets in Salado is also in April.

The May meeting will be at Andy and Molly’s home. Watch for further details and information.

The Decatur Swap Meet in February 22-24th.

Thelma Lough gave a Treasurer’s Report. Some members have not yet paid their 2008 Chapter Dues. Thelma also had some raffle tickets for the BCA National Meet in Flint this July.

Andy Walla reported on an inspection of a 1984 and 1986 Buick Grand Nationals that he had looked at. They are “for sale”.

Barbara Cantrell has had pneumonia. Motion was made and seconded to send flowers to Barbara. Motion carried. Thelma to handle this.

Thanks were extended to Bill Lough for arranging the meeting at .

Meeting adjourned.

Jimmie Furr, Secretary
