Honors Geometry (Unit 9) (WKST 9.4) Surface Area/Volume of Composite Figures!

1. Find the volume of the toilet paper. 5. The surface area of a cylindrical septic tank is 290π ft2 and the radius is 5 ft. Find the height.

2. Find the volume of the composite space figure. 6. Find the volume of the figure below:

3. Find the volume of the space figure.

4. Find the total surface area AND volume of the figure below.

7. Find the volume of the figure below. The base is a square.

8. A storage bin is shaped as in the figure. The radius of the cylindrical top is 7 ft. The overall height of the bin is 26 ft. and the height of the conical section is 12 ft. Find the total surface area of the bin. (Be careful on this one)

9. The dimensions of the base of a rectangular prism are 5” and 8”, and its altitude is 12”. The prism can hold liquid except for a solid right triangular prism in the located in the center of the prism. (extending from upper base to lower base as shown) The center prism has bases that are equilateral triangles who side measure 2”. Determine the total volume of the figure.

10. Ben’s lunch box in the shape of a half cylinder on a rectangular box.

Find the volume of the lunchbox

11. A cistern (well) is to be built of cement. The walls and bottom will be 1 ft thick and painted with purple paint. The outer height will be 20 ft. The inner diameter is 10 ft. How much paint is needed for the job?

12. A rectangular prism is 40 ft by 38 ft by 15 ft. Shown below

is the prism with a half cylinder removed. Find the volume of the original prism remaining.
