Name:___________________________________________ Food Budget Activity

GOAL: To feed your family of 4 for a week on a budget of $250.00.

- You must plan out 7 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 6 dinners

- You do not have to plan out the 7th day dinner since this was done in our previous activity (restaurant).

- You do not have to plan lunches for the week: kids will eat school lunch ($3 per day per kid) and adults eat lunch at their job ($5 per adult per day). However these amounts must be accounted for in your budget (this is part of the $250 you have for the week).

- You will also include drinks and snacks in this budget.

- You will use supermarket websites (and store circulars) to find prices. Wegman’s is a recommended source.

- NO ONE ITEM MAY BE USED MORE THAN TWICE!! (example: you may only serve eggs for breakfast for 2 days. Or you may only serve granola bars for a snack for 2 days)

- As you plan each day, write down your meal choices on the worksheets attached

- Once you have planned out all meals, you will make a power point with your choices and present to the class
