Regular –er verbs in the present tense

To form –er verbs you take the infinitive and form the stem by knocking off the “er”

e.g. regarder ( regard

Then add the endings as follows:

Je regarde Nous regardons

Tu regardes Vous regardez

Il regarde Ils regardent

Here are some common verbs:

jouer – to play visiter – to visit chanter – to sing

écouter – to listen voyager – to travel dessiner – to draw

manger – to eat sauter – to jump entrer – to enter

parler – to speak aimer – to like regarder – to watch

travailler – to work penser – to think adorer – to love

commencer – to start porter – to wear détester – to hate
