ATTENDANCE: Savannah State University endeavors to provide optimum conditions for the intellectual growth and development of its students. With the exception of University approved activities, it is expected that students should attend and be punctual to their classes, laboratories, and officially scheduled class requirements. Students who are absent because of participation in approved University activities will be permitted to make up work missed during their absences, provided that no more than 15% of class hours per course per term are missed and that work is assigned for completion prior to the University sanctioned activity.

Daily attendance is required. Role will be at the beginning of the class and it is your responsibility to ensure that your presence is made known. If you enter in after roll has been called, then you are tardy and must come up to me at the end of class and tell me that you came in late and send a follow up email to document. I will then change it from absent to tardy in the gradebook.

Absence Policy:

•One absence, either excused or unexcused, are permitted

•Any student who misses six or more classes that are unexcused will AUTOMATICALLY fail the course. NO EXCEPTIONS.

**Your participation grade will reflect your absences.

Make-up work must be approved by the instructor. No make-up work, homework or tests, is permitted for unexcused absences. If it is excused, you have two class periods to make up the assignment. It is your responsibility to ask what it missed, it is best to be in written form and not verbally. Always get everything in writing.

(EXCUSED ABSENCE - is defined as a documented emergency such as illness requiring hospitalization or doctor's visit, death in the family, religious holiday, documented attendance at certain University functions, etc. Work, court appearances, routine medical appointments, mechanical failure, etc. do not constitute a legitimate excused absence.) All of these must be proven with written documentation given to the teacher no later than two class periods after the absence.

Tardies:

Tardiness is disrespectful to both your instructor and your classmates. If you arrive after the roll has been checked, you will mark with a tardy or if you leave the classroom early. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late and the door is closed, please do not knock on the door. You may come in; however you will be marked absent. Also, please note that if you leave the classroom early you will also be marked tardy. If you need to leave early, make sure you let me know before class has started and the reason. You will still be marked tardy.

Note: 2 tardies equals 1 absence. 2 TARDIES ARE PERMITTED WITHOUT PENALTY. HOWEVER THEY WILL BE RECORDED IN THE GRADEBOOK.

CLASSROOM STRUCTURE: This class will be conducted in Spanish when we communicate orally and in writing. It is important that you communicate in Spanish at all times. Individual and group participation is a must. The class is basically the practice of what you studied at home as homework. If you need extra help outside of class, please visit me during my office hours or make an appointment to see me. I am also always available via e-mail. Please don’t hesitate to contact me. Class periods are brief which means that you will need to do a large portion of the preparation and review outside of class. Since your grading is proficiency-based, it is in your best interests to prepare for the class in advance. You will be asked to:

1. Pre-read the lesson for the day and to complete some simple practice activities.

2. Bring necessary materials to class. ie. Book, worksheets (off the blog), etc

3. Come to class prepared to participate in oral activities.

TESTING: During any type of testing, you are not allowed to wear any hats of any kind. Cell phones may not vibrate/ring during any test or quiz. If it occurs, you will be docked a letter grade.
