III. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2010 - Interim Associate Dean, College of Liberal Arts, Jackson State University.
Duties include: Preparation of Annual Report, handling student and faculty issues, work with departments on accreditation materials, represent the Dean at various meetings, assist departments with the recruitment of new faculty, review College’s budget and make recommendations to the Dean, assist Dean in responding to requests from the Provost and President’s Office, and other duties as assigned.
2007 - 2010 Professor and Chair, Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology. Directed the department’s undergraduate and graduate program. Served as fiscal officer for the department, coordinated curriculum development, supervised master’s theses and projects, responsible for hiring and evaluation of faculty and other duties as assigned by the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. Taught courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
2005 - 2007 Associate Provost for Academic Affairs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: curriculum matters, new programs, program eliminations, military programs, Assessment, Continuing Education, Core Curriculum, Pre-Major Advisement and other assignments from the Provost and Chancellor. Promoted to Full Professor.
1998-2000 Director, Institute for Ethnic Studies. Responsible for the overall operations of the Native American Studies, African and African American Studies, Latino and Latin American Studies Programs. Direct supervision of the Coordinators for each of these programs.
