NECC Horticulture class will donate the plants but are unable to this year, will plan on next. We may potentially try to work with the city on starting up a “Blooming/Beautify Bowling Green” project that consists of hanging baskets on all the main roads. More information as it becomes available.Map of DowntownProject Lead: Tracy Brookshier, Sarrah GigousThe map is complete, we are working on getting prints, and the digital files to share.0.5K Event (October 27th)Project Lead: Brittany Henke(No new news as of 7.5.18 meeting) Brittany gave a report of her ideas for this event so far that include a .5K around the square with candy and donut stations, Halloween costumes and contest, vendors with fall/comfort food specialties as well as crafts and more. Straw pit toy hunt for kids, chili cook off, wine and adult beverage tastings, beer garden, live music and more! If anyone is interested in helping Brittany with this event, I am sure she wouldn’t mind the assistance! Paint the Street – BG Homecoming (date not set) Project Lead: Ethan ColbertEthan is working on getting the school involved for this event and more. It was discussed to shutdown a portion of the square so that the faculty could bring the students during school hours to paint, then leave it shut down and we could invite the public to come and “vote” for their favorite, as well as offer vendors and such. Ethan is going to re-approach the school with these ideas to confirm a date: probably around homecoming.Food Truck FridaysProject Lead: Danielle Orf, Tracy BrookshierWe have had an amazing response since last weeks addition of new vendors from the community. We had rumor that there were electric issues with the chamber’s breakers: this is not the case. We had a vendor who’s generator blew up, and another who tripped their own breakers within their truck. No issues with the chamber electric. We also spoke about a business that is unhappy with this event. Our response is that this is unfortunate: this is a temporary EVENT that was highly requested by our community, we are doing our best to bring NEW fun ideas and business to downtown as well as foot traffic, and that is exactly what is happening. Missouri Community Betterment InvolvementProject Lead: Brittany Henke, Erica Mitalovich, Amber GroteErica is checking on the status of the MCB signs that were ordered. Our GoalsWe have continued to discuss our goals for 2018, and will continue to discuss these short and long term goals at each meeting.Host at least three events on the square: Spring on the square: 1?Complete a couple small fundraising projects: Tshirt Fundraiser: 1?Complete 3 beautification projects: Filling Vacant Windows: 1?. Benches/Planters: 1 In progress. Trashcans: 1 In progress. Light post Banners and Planters: 1 In progress.Long-term Goals: Ideas are finding ways to utilize the vacant lot spaces and event potentially purchase our own empty building. Create a downtown investors group to help with vacant buildings.Social MediaProject Lead: Marianne Everhart, Shelley Wiler, Tracy Brookshier, Amber GroteThe only form of advertising for our events and what we are doing is via facebook and word of mouth!! Please make sure you SHARE our events, and tell people about them. Click the button at the top of the page to INVITE YOUR FRIENDS TO LIKE THE PAGE!! We have just under 300 “Likes” on our page, with a town of 3,000+ we should have more than that if we want to get people excited and involved! IF you see something on facebook in regards to the downtown area, please let me know so we can be sure to share it! We now have a public facebook page and a private page for members. Downtown InvestorsProject Lead: Lori Kottwitz(no new news for 7.5.18 meeting) Lori Kottwitz has made contact with a gentlemen that was once a part of the downtown investors that we briefly discussed at our last meeting, and we are hoping to hear more from him in the near future and get an update from Lori. If we can find people interested in investing in downtown, it will make it much easier for small business entrepreneurs to get started! bgdowntownrevitalizationTracy Brookshier – Chairperson – 314-971-5886Next Meeting!
