5th grade math classWelcome to 5th grade math. Below you can read some of my expectations and guidelines for the class.I will allow you to make corrections for ? credit on all assignments, quizzes, graded homework, and tests. To receive credit, corrections should be completed on a separate piece of paper with all work shown and stapled to the original. There should also be a sentence about the mistake made.Points will be taken off for any late work.Please read/check my math webpage often. I will update and include important links, test dates, and assignments. I also have a secondary webpage that I maintain with LOTS of useful links, games, and videos. You can check it out at . There are several pages on the site, and I will be updating over the next couple of weeks. You MUST come prepared to class. This includes text book; notebook; workbook; several pencils with erasers, supply box with scissors, glue, and markers; red folder; and organizer. The breakdown for grading is as follows:Tests 30%Quizzes 20%Homework 10%Classwork 30%Participation 10%As 5th graders, you will be able to view your grades on Rediker. You will be receiving your log-in information soon. I would recommend checking Rediker weekly for any updates. Please remember to actually access the Math page and scroll to the bottom of the page to see everything important. If you only look at most recent grades, you could miss information.Our book series has a wealth of online resources. Please make sure to check it out. homework most Monday-Thursday evenings.We will continue our membership with IXL this school year. All students will need to play a minimum of 20 minutes a week. Starred skills should be where you are choosing topics for the week. I will check every Monday night to see about the previous week. (Weeks run Monday-Sunday night) I will be checking to see students’ efforts, strengths, and ics covered this year include: number operations, decimals, fractions, measurement, geometry, and data/graphing to name a few. ALL students should be adept in their math facts. If you are rusty, please practice nightly for 5-10 minutes. Flashcards, mad minutes, computer games, and IXL are all excellent ways to improve your fact knowledge in all operation.My email is tmaxwell@ ................
